Time: Day 5, Late Evening Weather: Pouring Warnings: Low visibility, blood, possible supernatural guests. Characters: Atlas, Emily Wyatt
Atlas drove in front of Emily in an attempt to locate where he last saw Tamika's car. As he drove through the dark empty streets, he checked his watch. "11:36. Not exactly a good time to be out." he thought nervously, glancing through his headlights for any sign of them. Luckily, the streets remained empty as he drove into the darkness.
Eventually, he came across Tamika's familiar Cecelia. He parked right in front of it, but left the headlights on. He looked over on the seat next to him at his handgun. "Just in case. I should probably keep it hidden. No need to alarm Emily." he thought as he picked it up, briefly checked the magazine of gun and then put it in his jacket pocket.
As Atlas stepped out of the car into the rain, he immediately felt his clothes become wet. He tried to wrap his wet jacket around himself closer to keep warm, but had little success. He had wanted to give up right then and there and go home, take a hot shower and sleep. However, he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. Not while Tamika could be in the hands of some madman.
Once Emily's car arrived, he walked over to her door and waited for her to come out.

Emily pulled in behind Atlas' car and stepped out into the storm with flashlights in hand. Atlas' headlights would provide some light but not enough. She flipped up the hood of her raincoat (yes she had one as she had to often go out in the rain for police business and couldn't stay holed up in her house like the rest of Greenvale) and threw a second flashlight at Atlas. "Catch!"
She walked over to the Cecelia and scanned the area, "So this is Tamika's car?" Not much out here. Why would Tamika come here? Besides the electrical station there really wasn't much to see. Sure the Ingrams lived down the street but if she was visiting them why not park in front of their house?
With gloved hands Emily tried the drivers side door and sure enough like Atlas said it was unlocked. She slide inside moved her flashlight slowly over the front and back seats. There was a ratty old blanket and a basic first aid kit. Other than that the car looked clean with the only oddity being an open and empty glove compartment. Did Tamika take whatever was stored there with her?
Emily turned back to t he rear seats and picked up the first aid kit to examine it closer. There was a few drops of blood on the case, which raised Emily suspicions and when she flicked open she saw the items inside were scattered and have clearly been used before. There was also more dried blood inside.
When did Tamika get hurt? Was this recent? Emily frowned and put the kit down. With a sigh Emily flicked her flashlight beam to the dashboard. The car had at least a half a tank of gas, so that ruled out being stranded and meant Tamika stopped here for a reason other then car trouble. She reached under the dash and pushed a button to unlock the truck and pulled herself out of the car.
As she walked around the back to inspect the trunk's contents she asked her companion, "Any idea why Tamika would feel the need to visit a construction site in the rain? Do you know if she was supposed to meet any one? Maybe the Hof- er I mean Brad? Aren't you guys working for him?"
She leaned down and took inventory of the contents in the trunk: some cds, a stick of lipbalm, some small toiletries from a variety of hotels...Tamika must have been on the road awhile before she came to Greenvale. Her flashlight beam fell on a folded piece of paper. Emily picked it up and saw it was a photo of a family. It looked old, was it Tamika's family? What was odd was the father's face had been completely cut out.
She then stood and held up the ruined photo for Atlas to see and added to her original query, "Also... do you know the story behind this?"

Atlas catched the flash and turned it on. It helped, but there was still a bit of fog around obscuring his visions. "Thanks!" he replied as he shone it around, getting a feel for the area.
"Yeah, it's her car." Atlas was also trying to think why her car would be stranded here. There was no way she'd wander far from it, especially on a night like this. He watched as Emily rifled through the car, looking for something. Although the first aid kit that Emily found had some blood on it, he figured it wasn't recent. "If Tamika had been injured tonight and tried to use it, there would probably be more fresh blood around the car." he thought. As he looked around, Emily's question roused him to attention.
"Ohh, uhh, not that I know of. I know Brad's a bit weird, but I'd figured on a day like today, he'd rather meet in a warm building like my house than at a construction site." He replied as Emily moved to check out the trunk. "Maybe she saw someone else at the construction site. At the very least, I'd like to check it out a bit more closely."
He also looked at the photo Emily pulled out, but unlike her, knew exactly what it was about. "Her father used to beat her. Yet here, it looks like they are a happy family. Maybe her father wasn't always so abusive. Wonder what changed him?" he wondered. Still, he wouldn't reveal what he knew to Emily just yet. Tamika already felt bad enough about it as it was, the last thing he felt she needed was more people prying into her life, even if it was a nice person like Emily. "Umm, it's my first time seeing this, to be honest. Not sure what the story is, though it doesn't seem like she likes her father too much." he half-lied. "Sorry, Em. I'd rather let Tamika tell you."
Atlas started to shiver a bit. Partly due to the wet and cold weather, but also a bit due to fear. He glanced at his watch every so often and then glanced around. If they weren't out now, they certainly would be soon.

Emily nodded, checking the surrounding area was a good idea. She placed the family photo back in the truck and gently closed it.
"Well there's nothing in her car that really tells us anything. I think we should check out the construction site for more clues but first let's sweep the perimeter to be sure we aren't missing anything. Come on let's go."
Emily walked down the shoulder of the road with Atlas in tow slowly moving her flashlight through the darkness in hopes of seeing something out of place that would lead them to Tamika's whereabouts. As they moved down the road Emily also called Tamika's name in the slim chance she had somehow returned to the area and was lost in the dark.
"Tamika! TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMIIIIIIIIKKKKAAA! This is Sheriff Deputy Emily Wyatt! If you are out here please answer me!"
About a quarter of a mile down the shoulder a crunching sound beneath her boot stopped Emily in her tracks. She slowly brought her foot up and shown her light on the ground and saw she had just stepped on something bright pink and metal. Kneeling she took a closer look and realized she had just stepped on a crushed Motorola RAZR cellular phone.
Bingo
Emily scooped it up and held it out to Atlas to see. "Is this Tamika's cellphone?"

"Alright. There has to be something." Atlas replied as he followed Emily.
Atlas listened as Emily called out for Tamika in the dark rainy night. He eventually joined in as well. "TAMIKA! TAMIIIIIKAAAAAAA!" he yelled out. "It's no use, if she didn't hear out cars come on, what makes me think she'll hear our yelling." Tears began to form around his eyes as he called out again, this time a bit more desperately.
He stopped once Emily stepped on something and picked it up. Though he couldn't see it at first, he shined his light on it and recognized it as a cell phone. However, it didn't look like Tamika's.
"Nope, that's not it. I don't recognize that phone. Is there any way you can find out whose phone that was." Atlas asked. "Would this happen to belong to our kidnapper? Pretty sloppy if so, but good for us..." He then felt a chill down his back.
"By the way, does anything seem odd to you right now? Like, not in general, but is anything there that isn't supposed to be." Atlas asked, feeling his handgun stir underneath his jacket.
"The longer I'm out here, the more of a chance they will come..."

"Hmm maybe, I would have to give it to one of our tech guys. Carl might be able could pull some info off of it somehow." Emily frowned and placed the cell gently into a plastic baggy.
At Atlas' inquiry she looked at her friend with some concern, "No, nothing seems odd to me..." She trailed off and scanned the dark road, it was quiet and empty. If she wasn't out here looking for Tamika she would have thought it was just another typical rainy Greevale night. There was nothing out of the ordinary.
A slight movement under Atlas' jacket caught her attention. From her viewpoint it looked like the lawyer was clutching something in his pocket, a phone? Well it didn't matter what it was but she could tell he was seriously on edge. Something had him spooked, was the dark getting to him that badly? It was cruel of her to expect him to stay out here with her, maybe she should send him home.
"Look Atlas," She paused placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, "I can tell something has got you spooked, if you want to go home I won't hold it against you. I can continue combing the area by myself, it is part of my line of work after all. Go on back to your car and I'll call you as soon as I find anything..."
