Time: Day 5, Night Weather: Raining Warnings: Language Characters: Todd Thorne and Tamika Weir [CLOSED]
High above Greenvale the old clock over the former Mercury Theater struck 11:00. Greenvale residents tended to be early risers so most of the population would be safely in their beds by now but there were still a few out there burning the midnight oil.
In the clock tower sat one such man in a straight back wooden chair mindlessly throwing a tennis ball against a far wall. From his mouth hung a half burned cigarette and to his right residues of at least half a pack smoldered in the ashtray beside him. Besides the small glow from the man's cigarette only a lone lamp on a far side table illuminated the small room.
Thunk, thunk, thunk.
But the man wasn't alone. In the far corner of the room lay a large object wrapped in plastic. In the middle of the room sat a second occupant, unconscious and tied securely to a second straight wooden back chair. Every few moments the man's eyes would flick the red head's way in and each time he would take another drag off his cigarette clear annoyance.
Thunk, thunk, thunk.
Todd sighed as he looked over a Tamika and saw no change. How long was she going to be out for anyway? He took a drag from his 8th cigarette of the night and wondered again if this was all just a big fat waste of his time. Maybe he should just put a bullet in her head and be done with her.
No, he needed answers and he wasn't going to get that from a corpse. He had no choice but to wait and he had all night after all...
Thunk, thunk, thunk.

"Goddamnit, what did I do last night?"
Tamika's head seemed to throb in pain in time with the thunking noise she could hear as she slowly returned to consciousness. She at first made to movement to indicate her aware state and just silently took in her surroundings with her eyes closed. From the noise she guessed she was somewhere with working machinery. Tamika tried to remember some of the older buildings she heard were located in Greenvale, yet her excruciating headache prevented her from thinking clearly enough to remember anywhere. She also noticed a smell of smoke, and began to pray that whatever building she was in wasn't on fire. Though worry about the smoke was soon pushed from her mind as she began to clearly notice to ropes that bound her to what she guessed was a chair.
Quickly, she opened her eyes, the dim light in the room fortunately not hurting her eyes too much. Sight did not reveal much more about her situation, except for the location of the smell of smoke. It came from a cigarette being held by the last man she wanted to see right now.
"I'm guessing you didn't find Emily at the office, did you Todd?"

Todd caught the tennis ball and turned to face his bound hostage. It was about damn time she woke up.
He threw the ball near her head, the ball harmlessly by her right ear and bounced into a dark corner of the room. He smiled when she flinched, Todd was mad but he didn't want to risk knocking her out again now that she's finally up. So he glared instead, "No, I didn't find Emily at the fucking office Red."
He stood leaned down and blew a cloud of cigarette smoke in her face and drawled, "That was real cute giving me Em's business card, hilarious even. You should be a fucking comedian Red." He chuckled but there was no mirth in his eyes.
A large hand swooped up and snatched her chin. Todd reached into his back pocket and pulled out Tamika's bloodied switchblade. He flicked it open and pressed the cold side against her cheek and moved it up to the corner of her eye, "I did not appreciate the attempt at facial reconstructive surgery either. Now if you don't want me to gouge your pretty little eyes out I'd suggest you start telling me what I want to FUCKING KNOW!, fucking FAST.

To her shame, she flinched a bit when the tennis ball flew past her ear. "Come on Tamika, it was just a fucking tennis ball. It's not like he was pointing a gun at you. Yet." She made her face an impassive mask and calmly watched as he stood and moved toward her. Her eyes and nose burned as he blew smoke at her, causing her to cough and turn her head away.
"You know, smoking is terrible for your lungs. I'd offer you some Juicy Fruit to chew, but I'm a bit ti-" Her statement was interrupted as he grabbed her chin and forced her to face him. Though she managed to keep her face impassive, fear and a little bit of anger showed in her eyes as he pulled out her switchblade and pressed it to her cheek.
"Bastard didn't clean it. It's going to take me forever to make it come out properly again i-when I get it back." Tamika stared with a little bit of satisfaction at the cut on his face when he mentioned her "attempt at facial reconstructive surgery", noting that what she did was actually deconstructive surgery, but wisely deciding that I would be best not to point that out. Taking a deep breath to calm herself before speaking and reminding herself that Todd saw her as Emily's "pimp", she began to answer.
"Todd, I am merely Emily's..err, pimp. My job is to give her jobs, not to keep track of her movements all the time. But, I can still help you."
She paused for a second, making it look like she was merely taking another breath, when really her mind was racing to try and figure out just how she could help Todd.
"I know Emily. I know how she thinks. I can help you look for her. I can even help you get her. She trusts me. She's sees me not only as her pimp, but also as her friend. I can convince her to see things your way without you needing to break her lovely neck. All you need to do is put the knife away."

Todd stared hard at Tamika, unsure whether or not to believe her as she had already tricked him once back at the construction site. He wanted to jump on her offer but he had to make sure she wasn't trying plan something again.
He had assumed Emily and Tamika had only just met a few days ago but it was obvious now that they've had a much longer relationship then previously thought. Just when did Emily start working for Red? He doubt George knew about this or he would have already a stop to it as the Sheriff didn't seem like the "sharing" type. Unless that's what he was so mad about the other day! It wasn't about the FBI Agent...it was about Emily whoring herself out on the side for Tamika!
Everything was starting to make sense now.
Todd slowly lowered the switchblade away from Tamika's eye but he didn't put in away, "I...see." He stood up and circled the chair running his fingers along the back fringe of her short red hair. He leaned over her shoulder and whispered in her ear, "I had no idea you guys were that close. Pray tell me when and where did you two meet exactly?"

Tamika resisted the urge to smile triumphantly as he pulled the switchblade away from her eye. She believed she had successfully tricked him. Now all she had to do was just pretend to help him until he either let her go or until she could figure out a way to escape. Her happy thoughts we interrupted as he ran his hand along her hair. Tamika remained perfectly still, trying to figure out what the hell he was doing back there when he whispered in her ear.
"SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!
Tamika racked her brain for a good excuse. She was obviously younger than Emily, so they couldn't have known each other for too long, or else he'd be suspicious. Yet it had to be long enough for them to have developed a friendship. Knowing that her time was short, she blurted out the first plausible thing that lept to mind
"I met her at the Galaxy of Terror about two years ago." "Okay, good start. Now elaborate. Why did you meet her? How did you become her pimp? Think, girl, think!" After taking a breath, she continued her story.
"You see...my father had just died and left me his..umm, business. I was new to everything and decided to met the..the employee he had left me, namely Emily. We had a couple of drinks and talked for a bit. We had a pretty good time and spent some more time together. After awhile, we became friends. She's a great employee and a great person. Of course she won't be working for me anymore, but it's been a good two years."
Once she had finished, Tamika closed her eyes and prayed that he would buy her story. Though her voice had been a bit shaky, she felt that she hadn't sounded like she was lying. And she couldn't think of anything that would immediately sound suspicious in her story. Yet, she was still afraid, since if he even had an inkling that she was lying, it could mean her death.
"God, please let Todd be much more gullible than I think he is."

Todd eyed Tamika carefully as she explained how she and Emily met. Her voice was shaking which was a good indicator of deceit but Todd chalked it up to Red just being scared shitless. One tended to be a nervous when one's life was on the line.
He walked back around the front of the chair and didn't say anything for a good minute letting Tamika's tale sink in while tapping the tip of the the switchblade on his chin. So Red took over for her father? What an odd line of profession to pass on to a daughter. Did her father not have sons or what?
Todd circled Tamika again and slowly sized her up.
Red sure doesn't look the type that could scare Johns into paying...she's so small and scrawny. Definitely not that intimidating...
Suddenly the memory of Tamika brutally slashing his face with the switchblade suddenly popped in his mind. Todd put a hand on his bandaged cheek and grit his teeth in annoyance. Well she was pretty vicious with with a knife maybe she could scare weaker men. Was her father a Greenvale resident? Todd wondered if he ever saw the man around town. Still, her story did seem a little far fetched.
Well wasn't the truth usually stranger then fiction? Todd watched enough Maury and Jerry Springer to know that much. If moms pimped out their own kids why couldn't a pimp father teach his daughter the ropes of the family business?
Todd took another drag off his cigarette and cut his eyes back to his captive. He decided to believe Red and her promise of help and it was time to get this show on the road. He leaned down and grabbed Tamika's chin and forced her to look at him.
"Open your eyes Red and LOOK AT ME." Then in a calmer voice he continued, "Quite a story you got there. I must say we certainly live in a strange sad little world don't we?" He chuckled and patted her cheek with his right hand. "I believe you..." Todd stepped back and with a wide smile said, "And I will accept your offer of help."
But after a beat his smile fell. His left hand which held the switchblade flew down quickly across Tamika's right cheek and fell hard onto her left shoulder. As he pulled back the grin has returned. Now they were twins.
Eye for an eye, bitch.
Todd took the cigarette from his lips and lifted the dripping blade and slowly licked it clean. He took great pleasure in watching Tamika thrash in her bonds and the blood now seeping through her shirt. The cigarette returned to his mouth and the blade was pocketed once more. With a pitying tone he continued, "Now that my dear was for the little stunt you pulled earlier..."
He leaned forward and grabbed hold of her chin once more and snarled in her face, "You try and FUCK me over I will kill you."
He took his cigarette and dragged the smouldering end down the open wound on her cheek. He dropped the bloodied onto the floor and shook her face hard, "You understand ME RED? YES?"
He released his hold on her chin and headed towards the open doorway. Over his shoulder he said, "I'm going to give you a few minutes to let my promise sink in." The door then slammed shut and locked, leaving the bloodied Tamika alone with her thoughts.
((Hey well at least her blade is clean now... yay? Todd will be back in the next post he's just getting his first aid kit from his truck. It wouldn't do for his "helper" to bleed out on him))

Tamika practically held her breath as Todd circled her, obviously sizing her up. "Oh God, he's not going to believe me. How stupid this must look. A young, small, and scrawny woman calming that she pimps out an older and more beautiful woman. When the hell would that happen in real life?" She kept her eyes closed, completely expecting any second to feel her own switchblade slit her throat.
Suddenly he grabbed her chin and ordered her to look at him. Though terrified, Tamika forced her grey eyes to calmly and coolly meet his fierce blue ones. Relief flooded through her as he said he believed her and would even accept her help. She even smiled a bit and was about to thank him when his smile suddenly fell.
"YOU IDIOT! He must think your relief is a clear sign that you were ly-" Before she could complete her thought, pain filled her mind as he quickly cut her right cheek and left shoulder. The suddenness of the attack caused her to scream and try to move away from him, though the ropes held her right where she was. Tamika glared darkly at him and strained at the ropes while he licked her switchblade clean. Her glare darkened even more when he spoke to her with false pity, like as if he regretted having to cut her.
"Yeah right. He would have done that even if I hadn't scarred his face. Bastard." Tamika gritted her teeth to prevent herself from screaming again as her dragged his cigarette along the cut on her cheek. She refused to show him any more weakness than she had already shown him. It was the only act of defiance she could manage right now. When he asked her if she understood, she just silently glared at him and watched him leave.
Once the door slammed shut behind him, she allowed herself to cry, both at the excruciating pain in her cheek and at the hopelessness of her situation. He was strong, cruel, sick, and appeared to have no sense of mercy. He had two guns and her switchblade. And, to top it all off, he was a cop, so even if by some miracle she managed to escape, he would be able to see her punished no matter what she might say. She on the other hand was tied up, weaponless, and could only think of two people that would have even a chance of noticing her disappearance.
"Brad and Atlas. My two only hopes. Great. Brad's a genius, but I never even saw him today, so he might not even bother looking for me for God knows how long. And Atlas...he would notice sooner. At least I hope he would. I told him I'd see him tonight. Though he may just think something came up and wouldn't thi-no. He would notice that I'm gone. He would look for me. Though even if he does, he's just a lawyer. How much could he hope to do?"
Tamika stared despairingly at the wall for a little bit before mentally slapping herself. "WHAT THE FUCKING HELL HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU?!? So you're tied up? What-the-fucking-ever! You've survived worse than this and have survived! And what's all this thinking that you need Brad or Atlas to rescue you? You're not some weak damsel in distress! You're a helluva lot stronger than that! Now stop being negative and keep looking for ways to get out of here!"
Feeling more resolved, Tamika began reexamining her situation. She was being kept hostage by Todd. Okay, what did she know about Todd? That he was a strong, sick, and cruel son of a bitch. Though, as she thought this, something nagged her in the back of her mind, saying that she'd seen him before any of this crap happened. Thinking as hard as she could, she tried to remember when this was, but all that came to mind before she heard Todd's footsteps outside the door were the lyrics to some song that she believed was called Take On Me, or something like that.
"Okay, just continue to play along. Opportunity has to spring up at some point, right? And the longer you stay alive, the more likely Atlas, the police, or, God help you, Agent Morgan are to find you. Besides, how hard can helping a crazy psycho cop be?

Todd was back outside the room whistling a jolly little tune a mere 10 minutes after he left Tamika alone. In his hand he held the first aid kit he had grabbed from his car downstairs which he planned to administer to his guest shortly. Todd didn't want his little helper bleeding out on him.
He swung open the door waltzed back into the room with a melodic, "Hoooney! I'm hooome!" and grinned when a bloodied and tear stained Tamika looked his way. Pulling the other wooden chair over to his captive he sat down and looked at her for a moment. The blood flow from both wounds had slowed and he could see the beginning of coagulation. He reached out a long finger and traced the residue of tear trail along the left side of her face and cheerily said, "Well it looks like my promise of future pain and death has finally set in! Eh? That's good." He patted and pinched her left cheek and his tone darkened, "Just don't fuck with me and I won't be forced to hurt you." Todd chuckled.
Now that the threats were done with Todd was starting to act a bit more like his old self though his moods were very maniac. Since things were now going his way his intense rage had subsided and was now replaced by a barely contained exuberance. He held up the first aid kit he had brought in with him, "Now that my promise has sunk in let's get you all fixed up so we can get down to business!" Todd flipped open the case and took out several supplies while humming a tune which sounded suspiciously like Take on Me.
He grabbed her chin in a firm grip and wiped her bloody face down with a cleansing wipe. As he reached down and picked up an alcohol cleansing pad he said, "Now this might sting a bit-" He laughed, "Who am I kidding this is going to hurt a lot buuuuut if you don't want your pretty little face to get infected you just gotta grin and bear it. Hmmm okay Red?"
He wiped her face with the alcohol pad and after closing the cut with butterfly closures he applied antibiotic ointment and bandaged her face with a sterile pad and gauze.
He scooted his chair over a bit then reached into his back pocket and whipped out her switchblade accidentally sending the plastic bag with the left over red seeds fluttering to the floor. "Whoops!" He bent to pick them up and looked curiously at the bag and it's contents, "Hmm what's this?"
He waved it a bit in Tamika's face, "Any ideas?" but didn't wait for an answer, just shrugged and stuff it back into his back pocket. Todd used the switchblade to cut open the the shoulder of Tamika's shirt to get better access to the cut. As he worked repeating treatment on her shoulder he brightly said, "Okay Red it's time to get those thinking caps on and ready. Besides Emily being God knows where and with who I also have another teeeeeny tiiiiinnny little problem right now." He jerked his head and a thumb over to the far corner of the room where the wrapped corpse of the dead woman lay. "What to do with blondie over there."
He sighed as he wrapped gauze around her shoulder, "I can't just keep stashing her random places...wouldn't be good for my image you know? And I don't think I could pull a Weekend at Bernie's either and just prop her up in a chair somewhere. So I've been thinking and I think I've come up with the best solution!"
He stood and kicked back his chair and exclaimed, "You are going to love this!" He held his hands out like he was framing a shot, "Okay picture this Red! You know how we are are all looking for the sick son of a bitch who killed the prom queen right? What am I saying of course you do since you are such good friends with Emily I'm sure she's mentioned it. Well, it wouldn't be too far fetched that the killer would strike again...right?"
He paused and snatched the pack of cigarettes off the table and lit one bouncing back and forth on his heels, "Soooooooo I was thinking I could I pin this small mishap of mine on the unknown psycho!" He grinned, rushed back to Tamika's side and threw an arm around her shoulders and said, "BRILLIANT right?" He let go and practically skipped to the other side of the room. Pointing to the corpse burrito and continued, "All I have to do is cut this baby open and string her up in some tree for someone to find. The question is where..."
He cut his eyes to Tamika, "Any thoughts?"

Tamika raised an eyebrow at Todd's overly cheerful greeting, not making any comment, yet wondering what the fucking hell was he on. She watched quietly as he pulled a chair up in front of her though winced as he traced a tear trail on her face. "Well, at least he seems to be mostly in a cheery mood, though what's causing it is questionable. But at least the cheeriness might make him less inclined to put a bullet through my brain." A glare did appear on Tamika's face when he pinched her cheek, like as if she was a delightful little girl. Only two other people had pinched her cheek like that before, and both of them she would stab in the throat if she ever saw them.
Tamika quietly let Todd tend to her wounds, though watched him carefully just in case her tried to do something to cause her more pain. She also listened to the tune he was humming, finding it very familiar.
"It could be anything I suppose. I've listened to many songs before. Yet, I swear I heard this one recently. Now just where?" As Todd began humming what sounded like the chorus though, it hit her. It was Take on Me.
"Why the hell would he be humming the song I was thinking about just a bit ago? Is it one of his favorites? If so, than when did I hear it when he was around?" Tamika began to play Take on Me a bit in her head, trying to recall when she had her it. As the song played more in her head, the singing changed more into a screaming male voice that sounded like Todd's. She began to wonder when and why he would sing (or scream) Take on Me while she was around, yet then he began to apply alcohol to her cut, which drew her out of her thoughts.
Though it did not hurt as much as the initial cut or the cigarette burn, it did make her wince at the first dab on her cheek. As he finished tending to her cheek she watched him reach for something in his back pocket. She almost closed her eyes, thinking he was going back on what he said and he was going to cut her anyway, when she saw a plastic bag fall to the floor. Inside were some red seeds that looked very familiar.
"Those seeds. They look like the ones that were under the red trees at the graveyard. Though why would he have them in a plastic bag in his pocket? Todd most certainly does not seem like the gardening type. What other uses could they have?" Tamika glanced at Todd. He was certainly in a much different mood than he was before. Could the red seeds be some sort of drug? She pondered this while he treated her shoulder, not deciding much more than that they were probably some drug that caused rapid mood swings. Not much to worry about...unless they caused him to turn homicidal as well as cheerful. Yet she couldn't think of much evidence of that yet.
Tamika listened carefully as Todd enthusiastically explained his plan as to what to do with the body. To be honest, it did sound like a pretty sound plan to her. She knew people would sometimes try to hide their murders by copying the style of a famous killer who was still on the loose. She never tried it herself, never really seeing the point in being artistic about something that was just business, but did admit it would be a way to throw authorities off for a bit. It seemed especially likely to work in this instance since the authorities here didn't have as many resources as in the city and were still quite shaken by a killer. Granted, they had an FBI agent, yet she honestly had severe doubts about Agent Morgan.
"Now where to hang the body?" The forest seemed like a logical choice since that's where the first body was found, yet from what she knew, killers didn't tend to dump the body in the same place twice. Especially when a previous body had already been found at the location. Tamika considered several quiet places when something popped in her mind. Todd had thought the woman was Emily. While it was still clear that he would rather have Emily love him than have her dead, the idea of punishing her might seem tantalizing to him. Besides, Emily lived in the same area as Atlas. Going to her house would increase her chances of Atlas or someone else spotting her.
Tamika leaned back a bit and looked at Todd. "That's easy. Put her in Emily's backyard. I know, it sounds crazy, but hear me out. Getting Emily is going to involve gaining her trust and making her feel like she needs you. The first is going to be a bit tricky to do, but the second can be done easily. Imagine, Emily wakes up one morning to find that the killer has struck again, and has even snuck into her yard and tied the body to her tree. Something could even have been put onto the body to imply that she's next. In her distress, she's going to need someone to comfort her and protect her. All you need to do is act like her savior in her time of need and she'll begin to trust. She may even begin to love you."
Tamika blew at a piece of hair in her face and continued. "Of course, sneaking into her yard is going to be a bit risky, but hey, if I was a killer who had successfully gotten away with a murder like that prom queen's, I'd probably get a bit cocky and pull a stunt like this."

Todd stared at Tamika and for the first time today was glad he didn't snap her scrawny little neck. He plan was fucking GENIUS!
Within two strides he was back at her side and with no hesitation he took her face in both hands gave her a big fat kiss. When he let go he breathed, "Red... that is the most fucking brilliant plan ever!" Todd did a little twirl around her chair and gave her another fierce hug from behind shaking her side to side and then returned to his own chair. He leaned forward and gave her a little noogie, "I'm so glad I didn't put a bullet in your brain back at the construction site, I had a feeling keeping you alive would be beneficial to TEAM TODD!" He rocked his chair back forwards and backwards slowly keeping his eyes on Tamika he somberly said, "Em finding the body in her own back yard will probably break her you know. I'm surprised as her friend you would be that heartless...I love it." He shot Tamika a slow and cruel smile.
"I have to admit just imagining what her face would be when she sees the body is giving me little tingles." Mentally he added In more ways then one. "She's gotten just a little too full of herself as of late and definitely needs to be taken down a peg or two. Once the Sheriff sees how fragile her little mind really is he'll definitely realize he made a mistake all those years ago and beg me to take over the investigation!"
"Emily doesn't have any family around here and no real close friends..." He paused and tilted his head and tipped his hand, "Well besides you I suppose...but since you are Team Todd now it's safe to say she'll find no ally in you with this situation and she'll have no one to turn to in her grief. George hates weakness of any sort and he will most likely shun Emily after her pathetic display. She will be all alone and scared and will no doubt welcome me with open arms. Unless..." A memory of a man with a curly mop of brown suddenly appeared in his mind's eye. He remembered Emily being pretty touchy feely with that one back at the bar. Would she run to her new "friend" for help?
Todd's mood grew dark again at the thought of this new setback he growled, "I almost forgot about that fucking lawyer, Lasseter...I'm going to have to do something about him. I did not like the way he was looking at her the other night, they were a bit too chummy for my taste. I don't want Emily running to his side." He stood, pounded a fist to his chest and roared, "She has to come to me Red and ONLY ME!" He paced, "I don't want him fucking this up for me. We need to figure out a way to get that guy out of the picture FAST and permanently."

Tamika's eyes were wide with shock as Todd kissed her. "AAAAAAAHHHHH!!! GET AWAY FROM ME YOU CREEP!!!" Her hands suddenly jerked against the ropes as she instinctively tried to push him away. Once he pulled away from her, she glared at him. She didn't care if he thought her plan was the greatest plan ever thought up, no one kisses her. Except Atlas, though Todd was must assuredly not a thing like Atlas. Todd didn't appear to notice her glare as he twirled around her chair and the hugged her tightly. Hugs didn't bother her as much, though if he continued to show her even fake affection, she was going to kill him, ropes or no ropes. As he gave her a noogie, Tamika had to resist the urge to growl at him, hating all this friendliness he was showing her. She almost wished he would go back to slicing her cheek.
To the heartless comment, Tamika merely shrugged as best as she could while tied up. "As you said, this is a strange sad little world we live in. Besides, while the sight of the body will break her for a while, she'll survive. She's tougher than she looks." "At least I hope she is."
Tamika merely sat back and listened quietly while Todd mused as to how everything would go. Some small part of her almost felt a bit proud of her brilliant plan, yet she squashed the feeling as quickly as it appeared. She was merely doing what was necessary to survive. No part of her should take any pleasure from coming up with a plan that would hurt someone that had been kind to her. Even if said person used shady methods to get her job.
She then grew concerned as Todd's face suddenly grew dark. Did he find a flaw in her plan? And then he yelled at her what his problem was.
"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!" Why had Atlas had to be involved in this? Why did he have to be Emily's friend? And why did Todd have to be such a homicidal bastard as to immediately jumping to the conclusion that Atlas had to be killed?
"Are you kidding me?" Tamika almost yelled, "The last thing you want is to add another body. Copying an established killer's style may work for one body, but not any more than that. Besides, the police are going to get suspicious when they're killer has suddenly switched from killing young women to male lawyers."
"And," Tamika added, more calmly, "you don't have to worry about her going after Lasseter. She understands that she doesn't go after guys that I've told her are off limits. Atlas is mine and mine alone."

"Oh. I didn't realize you two were an item. I could have sworn he had his eye on Emily the other night."
I would have bet my life savings he was making googly eyes at her. But even if he was it doesn't mean Emily would have reciprocated...Poor Red doesn't have a clue.
Todd smiled his sudden rage once again pushed to the back burner, "Well if you say he won't be a problem Red I'll trust your judgement. But as your friend I have to say if I were you I would keep an eye out on him. Your man's gaze has been wandering as of late."
He looked at his watch, "Ugh it's only 12:00...we will have some time to kill before we could give Emily her present. What to do?" He sat down and took a long drag off his cigarette, "So you and the lawyer eh? Does Lasseter know about your current employment?"

"Not a big surprise since we're only "an item" as of last night." Tamika thought morosely. Even though most of her current life was based on lies, she was getting tired of the constant stream of lies she had to pump out to keep herself alive. She was sure she'd slip up at some point and say something that contradicted something she already said. And then she was sure nothing would save her from the psycho in front of her.
Again, Tamika was relieved as Todd once again believed her. Though the "friend" comment did spark a bit of anger in her. He was her kidnapper, her tormenter, not her "friend". Though the spark was quickly ignored as Tamika began to wonder about the rest of what he said.
"What does he mean Atlas's gaze has been wandering? Has he been seen with someone else? I know he's been pretty friendly with Emily before. Beh, what am I worrying about? We only got together last night. Todd probably means he was checking out other girls before last night. Though...no, he wouldn't do that. He wouldn't leave if I disappeared for a while. He'd look for me. I hope."
To Tamika's sadness and annoyance, she found that once she came out of her thoughts, Todd had decided to kill time by asking her more questions. "Goddamnit Todd! Why couldn't we just play cards or something? All you would need to do is untie me..."
"I haven't told him myself, though I think he might know, or at least suspect something. He knows Emily, so she might have told him something. He hasn't said anything though. If he doesn't want to talk about what I do, that's fine with me."
Her face becoming sad, she added, "I hope he doesn't know though. I don't think he'd be able to tell that what I've done is just business. I didn't chose to start doing any of it. And I haven't enjoyed it much at all."
With a few tears rolling down her cheeks, she finished, "I like him a lot and really don't want to lose him over some shit that I've done."
"...Was I talking about being a pimp or being a killer just then?"

Well if there was one thing Todd didn't expect at his query is was waterworks from Red.
Jesus, now she cries? After all that other shit I did and she cries over a silly question about her boyfriend?
As much as he was pleased to see Tamika finally break it was all moot now that she was on his side! GOD DAMN IT! he needed her to bring her A game if he wanted the TEAM TODD plan to succeed.
Fuck.
"Uh-" Todd coughed then leaned over and wrapped his arms around Tamika and awkwardly patted her on the back, "It's- um going to be okay Red, you won't lose him."
He pulled back and smiled, "You know your current relationship reminds me of Trent and Kylie's in the first season of Citylights..."
"You see Kylie was at the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up having to kill some bad people for her survival. She wasn't happy about that and soon found herself in with the wrong crowd... if you know what I mean. Well Trent was as straight laced as they come. Wouldn't hurt a fly and Kylie knew if he *knew* what she's done he would want nothing to do with her."
He blew out some smoke and continued, "So through the entire first season Kylie was trying really hard to hide her past worried sick Trent would drop her if he knew the truth...Well in the season finale all of Kylie's bad deeds came to light thanks to that punk Kerry, and you know what? Trent didn't care one bit! You know why because he loved her and knew deep down she wasn't really that type of person! Annnnnnnnd next season they were married and living in the country somewhere. I think? Or did they move to Europe I can't remember..."
Todd stood and ran his hands through his hair in frustration, "ARGGgg! If only I had brought my laptop with me in here I could double check!"
He looked down gave Tamika a wary grin,"See! So now if it could work out for those two it would have to work with you and that lawyer!"
