Immediately upon returning, Brad's attention was drawn to the purplish ooze covering the bone. That's a bit odd. I'll let him get some sleep now, but I really want to see that bone up close and personal when we get to the graveyard.
The startled nature in Tamika's voice gave her away. "Your dream had you feeling imprisioned. The bird on the outside of your room, aka the prison, made you feel better and it could sing all it wanted. That tells me you have a deep rooted worry of feeling trapped, and when youth feel that way, their first reaction is typically to flee. It doesn't bother me one bit if you did or not, but, does it bother you?"

Tamika was quiet for a bit. She had never talked to anyone about her family or her leaving what was left of it. And most certainly not about anything that happened after. Yet Brad seemed able to figure out everything on his own, just from the slightest things she said or did.
"If you can't hide anything, why bother?" her mind chimed unhelpfully. Tamika sighed and then replied finally, "Leaving itself never bothered me. At least not that much." She frowned at the last bit. "He wouldn't have left even if you asked him. You did the best thing for the both of you."
"I guess what bothers me about it was why I had to leave." Then suddenly, before Brad could say anything in response to what she just said, she asked, "What was your family like Brad? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

"No reason why I wouldn't want to talk about my family, really." Brad responded. "I'm an only child, parents are still married, quite well off and such. I actually didn't spend too much time around them growing up. I've spent a good portion of my life at various colleges and only spent time with them here and there on breaks."
"Actually, I only just left college about 2 or so years ago." he mused. "Tried to be taught how to run the company, but it just wasn't right for me. Things happened and I decided I wanted to wander around. Learn more about the world around me and experience life."
Brad looked over at Tamika, not intently, but just kinda watched her go through the motions of driving him and Atticus to their destination...Poor girl.
