Time: Day 4, Early Morning Weather: Cloudy Warnings: Brad flirting?, Confused Tamika Characters: Dr. Bradley Karrde Smith, Tamika Weir, [CLOSED]
Tamika headed out of the hotel and lead Brad to her Toyota Celica. She unlocked the doors and then climbed into the driver's seat and waited for Brad to climb in the passenger seat. As she pulled out of the hotel parking lot, she said, "We probably won't see any shadows today. They only come out at night and during the rain as far as I can tell."

Climbing into the passenger seat of the Celica, Brad thought about what Tamika was telling him. Only come out at night or during the rain? That's peculiar. "Well, that's good I suppose."
Inside the car, he looked around, examining everything he could. The faint smell of smoke was looming in the air. But she doesn't smoke. Could this be related to what Agent Morgan had asked be relayed earlier, about her saving his life? Was he in the car? Regardless, there are other things I want to know. "Tamika, I'd like to ask you a personal question. I said yesterday that I believed you had trouble trusting other people, and I believe that was an accurate call. Is it? While you don't have to tell me why, I would like to know where you stand on trusting another person."

"Yes, what you said yesterday would be accurate. I normally don't trust other people. I haven't met many people who would be even remotely trustworthy." She then sighed and looked over at Brad. "But I do trust you, okay? At least more than most people." "Though that doesn't say much, but he doesn't need to know that." While she was talking, her grip had unconsciously tightened on the wheel. After a few moments, she noticed and loosened her grip.
She then glanced at Brad and asked, "You told me yesterday that you traveled mostly. Have you met many people worth trusting while traveling?"

"I've been all over the place, yes. Have I met many people worth trusting? Yes. I've also met many who I wouldn't trust. But there's a funny thing about trusting people. You have to understand that sometimes you'll feel they betrayed your trust. It might be doing what they think is the greater good, or it may be on accident. What matters though is how you react to it, and that's where you have to be a good judge of character, because it's easy to trust a person, but it's hard to find a person worth trusting, so when you do, you should still trust them through thick and thin." he stated, then smiled at the young woman, then turned and watched out the window.
He continued, "When I saw you enter the diner, I saw someone who I think fit that bill. I trust you as well, and I know that even if you do something that may lapse that trust, you'll be worth trusting again and again because deep down, it's not something you'll have meant to do."

Tamika did not understand what Brad said about trust at all. "So you trust people knowing you're going to be betrayed? Aren't you supposed to trust people you know won't betray you? Ugh, this is way too early for me to be this confused." Tamika reached down and took a sip from the coffee which she had placed in the cup holder next to an empty energy drink can. Replacing the cup, she glanced at him after he told her that he trusted her.
"Man, this guy must be crazy. He said he trusted me when he first saw me. Before he ever talked to me, he thought I was worth trusting. WHO THE FUCK EVER DOES THAT?!? Especially when the person he decided was worth trusting dresses oddly and as he stated himself looked mistrustful of others. So how does this lead him to believe that I'm worth trusting through everything because anything bad I do is something I didn't really mean to do?"
Tamika looked suspiciously at the guy who was now staring out the window and said," You knew nothing about me and decided I was worth trusting just by looking at me? That doesn't exactly seem like a smart assumption to make. For all you know, I could be a murderer that's been fleeing the authorities." "Hah! And I bet he'll just say there's no way I can be a murderer just like Atlas did....I don't know whether that should make me happy or sad."

Brad was aware of the look he just got from the reflection in the glass. She certainly was hiding something, that's for sure. Fleeing a murder, hmm? Interesting choice of situations.
"Tell me something, if I were to tell you that I had been in war, had shot and killed because I had to in order to survive, would that make me any less of a person? People do things, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but it's how they feel about doing them that defines who they are. Did I trust you immediately, sure. Like I said, it's easy to trust someone. But in the short time we've spent together, I've gotten the feeling that you have a good heart, or at least you want to. And that is why I'd continue to trust you, again and again."

Tamika glanced again at Brad. She really had no idea what to say. He didn't seem to doubt that she could be a murderer like Atlas seemed to. More that he thought that she wouldn't want to be a murderer. Which was true. As he told her that he thought she had a good heart, she looked at him with a expression that was a mixture of confusion, gratefulness, and a bit of sadness. Then she went back to driving and simply said, "Thanks Brad. I don't know many other people who would say something like that."

There was something hidden in her reponse. The expression she gave Brad gave even more detail. She's had it rough... And with a caring expression and the same peaceful, gentle tone he'd always had with her, he simply said "You're welcome, Tamika."
