Time: Evening Weather: Cloudy Warnings: Brad analyzing, Tamika's switchblade, Atlas...umm...atlasing Characters: Brad, Tamika, Atlas [Closed]
Brad followed closely behind Tamika as she made her way towards an empty table. He took notice of the man called York she spoke to as they made there way there. Suit. Not high class, working style. Small town like this wouldn't have many businesses where people dress like that. Detective, maybe? Left arm in sling. Can't see a holster." Reaching the table, he took a seat.
"So Atticus, Tamika here has been kind enough to explain some about these so-called shadows, the massacre of 1956, and Brian. If you don't mind, I'd like your take on all this." he started. Turning to Tamika, he smiled reassuringly, but addressed both her and Atticus. "And I do believe what you're telling me. If you want to know why, the answer lies in those glasses.", gesturing to the 3D glasses which now smelled very, very faintly of strawberry banana.

Atlas joined Tamika and the doctor at the empty table. He sat back in the seat and took a sip of his beer. It was getting rather hot in the building, so he opted to remove his sweatshirt and tie it around his waist, revealing a white t-shirt with a logo for velvet falls on it.
He noticed that Tamika, for some odd reason, was wearing 3D glasses. "Hmm, I haven't seen a pair of those since I was a kid. The effect was cool, but I hated how you had to see them through colored lenses. Imagine a 3D film in full color. That'll be the day." he thought.
Atlas listened to what Brad had to say. It was odd to him that, despite not being sensitive, the doctor had believed the two. George certainly didn't, and even Emily didn't fully believe him. Ohh well, the more allies, the better.
"Alright. Let me see...my first encounter actually wasn't with the shadows. It was some sort of hellhound. It looked like a standard doberman at first, though with hellish red eyes and some sort of purple slobber. I found a strange bone earlier, and that dog seemed to want it. Before I knew it, the dog grew larger and larger, until it was the size of the trees. I still remember the howl it gave off..."
he paused to take a sip of beer. "I only managed to get away by throwing the bone at the dog and running through the trees. He was big, but seemed to have trouble navigating the trees. When I stopped, that's when I saw the shadows. I underestimated them at first. But then one stuck its hand down my throat." he scrapped his tongue around as it trying to get the taste out. "Did I mention those things taste nasty."
"Anyways, I had to fight my way to my car through those things to escape. I couldn't quite see their faces in the dark, but those moans. Damn were they freaky. I almost got out when one cheap shotted me in the shoulder." after he said that, he gripped his shoulder. He reached into his pocket to take out some pain pills, but then decided against it. "Hmm...shouldn't mix alcohol and medication..."
"For the most part, my injuries aren't as bad as they were the night before, but they still act up from time to time. Then before I got here, I had a nightmare. I feel asleep, then suddenly, my house engulfed in cigarette. smoke. I tried to escape, but the next thing I know, I'm in a courtroom, with strange figures reaching at me and a cigarette smoking man..." he bit down on his finger nervously... "I'd...rather not talk about the rest of it. Too many disturbing reminders of my past. I came here to try and forget about it. Too bad it isn't working..." he sighed.
"The only reason I brought that up was...maybe one of you guys could make some sense of it..." he took a swig of beer.

"Um...what?" Tamika did not understand what he meant by 'the answer lies in those glasses'. Yet, for now she decided to ignore the strange comment and listen to Atlas retell his encounter with the shadows for the third time. This time he mentioned a bone, which he had never mentioned before. "Well, it sounds like he doesn't have it anymore, so maybe he decided it wasn't worth mentioning before. Though it is odd that he keeps adding details to his story that weren't there before."
Watching Atlas with suspicion, she listened to the rest of his story. "So he did have some sort of nightmare. Though what's this about disturbing reminders of his past? He's just a small town lawyer. What sort of disturbing past is HE supposed to have?" As curious as she was about what he meant, she remained silent. Tamika knew what it was like to have shit in one's past, and he truly did appear bothered by the nightmare.
As for what the nightmare meant, Tamika had no idea. She had not seen anyone who smoked since she came to Greenvale, and she suspected that most of the smokers she had seen outside of Greenvale were most likely unrelated. As for the courtroom...some sort bad case or maybe he just saw it because he's been in courtrooms a lot. "I have no idea, sorry. Brad, you got anything?"

Brad sat in quiet contemplation of what Atlas had just told them. Demonic dog. Bone. Trees. Few trees in town. Wooded area. Why was he in a wooded area? And the dream… Finally, after a few moments, he started to speak.
"It sounds to me like the dream was a focused fear. An event in your past that continues to haunt you. Take a step backwards, this dream only popped up after your encounter with the shadows and that demon dog. The demon dog only appeared after you touched the bone. And that bone, I believe, may have been a human bone. When I was exploring the cemetery earlier, I found that Brian's grave was missing several bones." He paused again, then continued.
"Something happened in 1956 that was so tragic, so devastating that even the bodies of the deceased are marked in emotion. And by touching this bone you found, that emotion was passed to you."
Without missing a beat, the doctor continued his diatribe. "Now, the world around is made up of matter, which I'm sure you all were taught in school. But matter is made up of energy, pure and simple. And human eyes are only capable of seeing a one form of energy, light. The mark of emotion was so powerful it altered your perception, allowing you to see another form of energy, where the shadows and demon dogs exist. Much like how if Tamika here were to put on the 3D glasses, she would only see the red and blue spectrum of light."
Finally he stopped, and waited for any questions.

An event in my past that has come to haunt him...he wondered what it could be. Though that would have to come later...
"Now that you mention it, it was a human bone. It looked like a spine to be more specific. Are you saying that the bone I found...was one of Brian's? And if it was, do you think that there are other ones scattered around Greenvale?" he asked. "I hope not. The last thing I want to do is go on a scavenger hunt for the pieces of a dead person..." he thought.
Hmm, these shadow things...powered by emotion? So something about that bone must have made him sensitive to whatever form of energy the shadows and demon dog were made of. The only problem was that he had indeed touched bones and other disturbing items whenever handling evidence in court. Nothing suspicious ever came of those.
"So, you're saying that because I touched the bone of a person that died in a bloody massacre fifty years ago, I'm able to see these things?" he said. "I don't remember Tamika saying she found any bones. And what about York? He was sensitive before he even came to town. How do you suppose these two were able to become sensitive to this energy?"

"So the massacre left an emotion in the dead bodies. These bodies pass the emotion to those that touch them. Whoever touches them sees shadows." Tamika did not completely understand Brad's explanation. Yet she couldn't find anything immediately wrong with it.
The realization that the bone Atlas found was one of Brian's saddened Tamika a little. She didn't like the idea that the poor guy's bones were now scattered and being chewed on by giant demon dogs. "If I ever get a chance, maybe I can head to the forest park and see if I can retrieve the bone for Brian. It's the least I could do for him helping me out."
Atlas then brought up a good point. She had never touched any of the bodies of the deceased. All she had done was go to the graveyard, knock on Brian's door, and then there he---wait. She then pondered this. "I never touched a body, but would the door of a place where one of the deceased lived would have the same effect. Of course, if that's true, then why aren't more people sensitive? If the buildings themselves could have the same effect, then more people would have developed sensitivity by touching these buildings. Unless it's only certain buildings. Urgh, I'm confused."
"Would it have to be a dead body?" She asked to no one in particular,"I never touched any of the bodies in the graveyard, but I did knock on the door of Brian's shack before I saw him. As for York, who knows. He's right over there if you want to ask him." She pointed toward the weird FBI agent, who was currently sitting next to Emily at the table they had left. "Good luck getting anything out of him though."

"I can't speak for York, who I assume is the suit over in the other table. However, it doesn't necessarily have to by physical contact with a dead body. Just like any other haunted area, a location can be soaked with emotion." Brad replied.
Looking back at Atlas, he thought briefly about the question of the bones. "There's a good possibility they are the bones of Brian, but I believe his being dug up could simply be a coincidence. The digging was rather erratic, like an animal."
Just then, a newcomer arrived in the bar. A ragged looking man wearing a white suit. Brad watched as he crossed towards over towards the bar. His movement is strange. There's no bend in his motion. And the sway in his arms is very little for such a purposeful walk.

"A location hmm...like the Tree of Anna. I remembers things started getting weird when I had entered that area. The Graveyard also seems like another such area. Now that I think about it, Tamika and I weren't the only ones there that day..." he thought. He took a sip of beer and then spoke up.
"When Tamika and I first met in the graveyard, there were two others there that day. One of them was another redhead, I believe her name was Charlotte. Another was a strange guy with a hawk or something. Do you think that either of them might have become sensitive as well?" he asked. "Having other sensitive people on our side might get us closer to solving this mystery. York, on the other hand, definitely will need to be questioned sooner or later."
"Hmm, well, I was attacked by an animal, so it is possible that those are the bones. There is only one way to find out..." he said.
"I forgot to mention this before, but that bone I was talking about. I know I said I threw it away as a distraction, but as I was leaving, I felt something in my pocket. When I pulled it out, it was the same bone, only covered in purple fluid and more bite marks." he took another sip of his beer.
"The bone is in my truck. We can show it to Brian and see if it is indeed his. Besides, I want to meet this guy anyways..."
While he was talking, another man walked in. His white suit stood out among the casually dressed patrons, which caught Atlas's eye. After a bit of looking, he recognized the man. "Ohh no, it's Dr. Seuss. Just try not to react. Maybe Tamika won't figure out he's here." he thought.
"Anyways, what do you guys think?"

"They both left without touching anything, so maybe not," Tamika reasoned, "Unless one of them has gone back to the graveyard or has gone somewhere else where they could have come in contact with this...emotion. Though I doubt that Raincloud will help us, even if he is sensitive."
When Atlas mentioned he had the bone, she was relieved and confused. "Well that will save me some trouble. But why would the bone come back to him? What makes him special?"
"I'll go with you with you're going to see Brian." Turning to Atlas, Tamika added sounding exasperated, though she was smiling, "And the only reason I want to go with you is because he knows me and is more likely to talk to me. I swear, I'm not going to ask him about his dead mother or anything like that."
It was then that a white suit caught her eye. "Oh my fucking...WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING HERE?!?!?" Micheal. The last person on Earth Tamika wanted to see right then. And he just so happened to walk into the same bar she was in. And he most likely still wanted to kill her. What. The. Fuck.
On her face, she tried to show no reaction to the white suited man, but under the table, she had pulled her switchblade out and was rapidly spinning it around with her hand. "No reaction. No reaction. Focus on the knife. He's not here to kill you. He's here to get wasted. Which is bad for him, but not for you. Hopefully. Just focus on the damn knife."
"To be honest, I think we all sound fucking insane. But I guess there's not much we can do about that. What about you Brad?" Her voice had a small tremor in it that was not there before. She prayed neither of them would notice, but knew that was hopeless. "If Brad could figure out which pocket my knife was in just by seeing me sitting down, he's sure as hell going to notice that I seem fucking nervous. STOP BEING NERVOUS! MICHEAL IS NOT GOING TO KILL YOU IN THIS BAR!"

Brad noticed the tremor as if it were the sound of glass shattering. Also, from how she had fidgeted a moment ago, it was very apparent she had pulled out whatever it was she carried in her back pocket and was now doing something with it under the table. Not about to leave this mystery alone, Brad asked "Are you okay Tamika? What has you riled up?"

"It's nothing Brad." The tremor was less apparent than before, but this was only because Tamika was getting better at covering it up. On the inside, she was still trying to calm herself down. After a little bit, Tamika slipped the small knife back in her pocket, deciding that it was attracting more attention than it was worth. After taking a short glance at the white suited man to make sure he was still oblivious to her presence, she asked now sounding calm, "So what do you think about all this Brad?"

It was apparent that Tamika was covering something up, but whatever it was Brad knew he wasn't going to get much out of her tonight. "I think we're on to something. I believe a trip back to the cemetery to talk to Brian and return what is possibly his bone is in order. Tomorrow morning sound okay to everyone?" Deceptively, Brad continued to eye the man in the white suit, soaking in every movement he made. Slight hesitation when moving his arms. Doesn't rest on them at the bar. Injured? He pocketed these thoughts in the back of his mind and waited for a response from his two colleagues.

"It's still worth checking though." Atlas replied. "At this point, any information is valuable. At the very least, they'll at least know that they are not alone..."
Tamika had wanted to go with him if he decided to visit Brian. She obviously sounded like she was regretting the dead mother incident with Michael. "Is she worried that she'll say the wrong thing again?" he wondered.
"I believe you. It will make the introductions go a lot smoother then. I'd like that." he said to her, smiling.
A few seconds later, he heard the sound of metal twirling under the table. It was coming from where Tamika was, who was still talking while doing so. Brad seemed to have noticed it and inquired about it, though Tamika brushed it off as nothing. Atlas, however, knew what was wrong. "Hmm, so much for Tamika not noticing Dr. Seuss." he thought. He wasn't quite ready to make a big deal of it yet. He'd talk about it with Tamika later.
"Very well. Unless Tamika has any objections then tomorrow morning it is. I'd be good to finally meet this Brian in person..."

"No, no complaints here." Tamika then got out of her seat, maybe a bit too eagerly. "Well, if that's all, I'll see you two tomorrow." She then left the two of them and began to make her way to the door. "Ok. Great. Now just get out of her before Suess sees you and there's nothing to worry about."

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow, Tamika!" he waved to her. He knew why she was leaving, and wouldn't put up a fight. The less awkwardness between Michael and Tamika he had to deal with, the better.
After she left, he turned to the doctor. "I'm going to stick around for a bit and hang out with Emily and her friends. You're welcome to hang out too if you'd like" he said to the man as he got up.
