[These are the personal field notes made by FBI agents on assignment, some of which are selected for entry into a daily report which is then sent to Section Chief Robert Abraham in Washington. These journals contain all information that they have currently gathered on the investigation and the townsfolk, as well as displaying their thought process of how it all fits together. It is not publicly viewable.]
DAY 1 OF THE INVESTIGATION
20:12 [Marked for inclusion] -Drove eight hours straight today without stopping, currently shacked up in a dingy motel somewhere on the wrong side of King County from where I'm supposed to be headed. GPS is shot and intermittent cell phone reception. On the plus side, it must be ladybug migration season, because when I came out from using the payphone my car was covered in them. Not sure if this is a good omen or not, but it certainly was pretty.
21:34 [Marked for inclusion] -Looking over the Anna Graham case files again to refresh memory. Not much to go on, profile-wise. Autopsy hasn't been taken care of yet (good) so we may be on to something yet!
21:52 -Went to reception to get snacks. Girl at front desk told me that if I put a mint-flavored Mentos in a 2L bottle of Diet Coke, something interesting will happen. Tried it in my room and she was right! -NOTE: May need to send for new hardcopies of Anna Graham's files.

DAY 2 OF THE INVESTIGATION MFI = Marked for inclusion
10:37 [MFI] -Driving.
15:02 [MFI] -More driving. Raining quite hard now.
17:26 -The Boss is on the radio! "I'm Goin' Down", from 1984 album "Born in the U.S.A." Haven't heard this one in a while. Not a big rock fan but still feel like I'm meeting a long-lost friend for the first time in years.
18:53 [MFI] -Still driving. Stopped to admire a woman's roadside snake collection. America is an incredible place, especially when you're on the move.
[The following notes were written retrospectively upon arrival at the Great Deer Yard Hotel at approximately 2:00 the next morning. All times have been approximated.]
23:00-24:00 [MFI] -Had a slight accident with the car while driving under extreme weather conditions. Rolled into a ditch and messed up my left arm pretty badly. Not sure how long I was out for, but managed to escape the wreck and flag down someone to drive me to the hospital. Turns out I was at least in the right place; sign outside said very clearly, "Greenvale General Hospital", in case I had any doubts. -Hospital far more active than ought to be considering the place and weather. People I met there included:
GEORGE WOODMAN: Sheriff of Greenvale. Black Stetson, indescribable mustache. Didn't seem to appreciate my presence, though his crankiness might have been due to the late hour.
EMILY WYATT: Deputy. Very helpful, easy on the eyes. Eager to please, but didn't seem to like the one about the Eye Spy. Drove me to hotel afterward.
TAMIKA: Red-haired young woman who drove me to hospital. Didn't see much of her after that, though I gather she's friends with the Deputy. Very audible.
ATTICUS LASSETER: Known as "Atlas". Lawyer, moved to Greenvale about a year ago. Good taste in movies and desserts, from what I could tell. Left shoulder wound.
PRIVATE NOTES -"They" are back. Case not officially an RSP since I haven't confirmed Anna's autopsy results, but now I'm sure of it and so is Zach. Don't know why I expected anything different. Even out here in the boonies, little red devils won't let me catch a break.
-SOMEONE/THING RAN ME OFF ROAD. Interior of other car too smoky to make out details, but caught a few glimpses of driver: Male, dark hair, red shirt, and I would recognize the glow of a lit cigarette anywhere. Will write more on this as it comes back to me, jotting down these initial impressions before I forget. Car was completely rusted over but somehow out-maneuvered us. Strong smell of burning, ashes. One of Them, or yet another unwelcome gate-crasher? -Not going to mention this to anyone either unless I have to. Best if people around here don't get alarmed by reports of a phantom Deathmobile tearing around Greenvale in the rain; country folk probably prone to overreacting to these sorts of rumors.
-TAMIKA: Can see Them too, carries a switchblade. Fearless. Doubt she's from around here, seemed squirelly when I told my profession. Guilty innocence or innocent guilt? What is she running from? -ATLAS: Can see Them as well, as far as could gather from his odd manner of speech. Gave me his card, wanted to chat later. Will have to keep an eye on him and Tamika, both used the word "Shadows" to describe being attacked. Should be suspicious, but I have a feeling they're on our side... Also, memo to visit Sugar Rush ASAP tomorrow. -AGENT HENNING: Was told he was also in the hospital with a young woman. No idea what that's about. Assume head office knows he's here; if not, probably none of my business. If nobody's going to tell me what's going on, I see no reason to let them know I don't know what I'm apparently not supposed to know.
2:48 -Only three channels on hotel TV: Weather, sports, and something called "City Lights" which I turned off after five minutes. No Internet connection either and cigarettes in vending machine cost me my other arm. WHAT IS GOING ON IN GREENVALE
3:02 -Wish I'd taken another box of stabilizers from hospital. Pain keeping me up despite softness of bed. Rain starting to clear, finally. Should stop writing...

DAY 3 OF THE INVESTIGATION
-Left arm in sling; no broken bones, but doctor at Greenvale Hospital said it might be another two weeks before it heals up. Inconvenient, but nothing I can do. Car likewise has yet to be repaired. Not sure which loss is more painful.
MORNING (SHERIFF'S OFFICE) -Was picked up by Deputy Emily Wyatt in the morning to go over Anna's case files at Sheriff's Department. Nothing worth noting except that the intern looked like William Zabka from The Karate Kid. Hopefully I will have an autographed photo soon as proof.
AFTERNOON (HOSPITAL AUTOPSY) -Full report will be sent later as separate document, with supplementary notes by D. Guillame Coquebloque, who has yet to complete internal analysis. Main point is that CASE IS CONFIRMED RED SEED PROFILE. Please mark victim Anna Graham as such and forward through appropriate channels.
LATE AFTERNOON -Was hoping to visit Sugar Rush but Bob Abraham called and wanted some elaboration on yesterday's notes which took some time.
EVENING (RECREATION) -Had quite an interesting time at darts/karaoke bar called SWERY 65 with following individuals:
* DEPUTY EMILY WYATT: Quite the social animal, although she ended up being the sober Someone For the Road. Should have known she wouldn't let drunk drivers on the road on her watch.
* OFFICER TODD THORNE: Aforementioned Zabka-like police intern who was kind enough to pay for supper.
* KEVIN (last name unknown): Friend of Emily's. Purple hair, young, didn't get a chance to converse much. Seemed a little overly fond of Michael (below).
* ASHLIN (last name unknown): Friend of Emily's. Seemed reluctant to talk at first, but warmed up when we were introduced to Bo-Bo, her long-time companion. Appears to be a close acquaintance of Michael (below).
* ATLAS LASSETER: The lawyer. Someday will arrange to talk to him and Tamika about Shadows, perhaps after the investigation tomorrow. Tonight he seemed more intent on getting sloshed. Didn't take him for the type, but I suppose every man has his vice. Appreciated his appreciation of good food.
* TAMIKA WEIR: The redheaded Good Samaritan. Seems to get clumsier every time I see her, but has excellent singing voice to make up for it. Drove Atlas home.
* DR. BRADLEY KARRDE SMITH: Familiar-looking tanned man with 2 PhDs and a sharp eye. Saw him talking to Atlas and Tamika when I came in, but had no time to ask about that. Possibly significant that they know each other, given that all three seem relatively new in town.
* MICHAEL TILLOTSON: A man in a white suit who would look elegant if he hadn't been so drunk. Doesn't hold liquor well. Carries sword. According to Todd, works for a man named HARRY STEWART who owns half the town. Seemed more interested in my cigarette than returning Kevin's affections. ***KEEP AN EYE ON THIS MAN***
PRIVATE NOTES -No word yet on the man in the rusty car who tried to run me over *. That mystery may have to wait, although I have feeling it will come to us and it won't be pretty. I suppose being chauffered around in a police cruiser makes for good protection, meanwhile.
-Zach believes Michael T. is hiding something, which brings the grand tally of secretive townsfolk up to "just about everyone we've met". Details are vague; will have to consult the coffee about this one.
-Ashlin and Michael could use some dating guidance. Perhaps Zach can drop some hints to Bo-Bo next time we meet; those two seemed to hit it off better than Ashlin and I, although neither of us are keen on soap operas.
-David Henning called to arrange lunch... Not sure what the day will bring, but am curious as to his presence here and will try to make time. Have a sneaking suspicion that Bob sent him, but will give the benefit of the doubt. Between him and George I suspect I'll have to be quicker on my toes than expected.
-* Stephen Spielberg's Duel (1971) was on TV when I got back to hotel. The irony did nothing to lessen pain.
