The dog whined at the man's diverted attention, butting its head softly against him in hopes of further scratches. Most likely living as a stray had left it seeking some human affection, and it was delighted to be getting so much of it.
Paige's eyes lit up, gasping, "You're a 'tournee and a ghost-buster?! Wow, you must be real busy! You're almost as cool as Super-Cop!" She frowned when he asked about the ghost's appearance, however, "Ummm. I didn't actually get to see it," She answered sheepishly, "But I know its around here somewhere! At school, we all agreed it got that girl! That's why it needs to be stopped as soon as possible! Me and Batdog are on the case, and Batdog is even a 'Key Witness'." She said seriously, hands on her hips in imitation of Emily- it always looked so impressive!

Tamika raised an eyebrow at the girl calling her "a weirdo". "Ooookaaay. Giving kids advice makes you weird. Good to know." She grew even more surprised as the girl claimed to be a ghost-buster. For a few moments she wondered if this girl could have really seen the shadows before dismissing the idea. "She probably just means she pretends that she and her dog are ghost-busters. Just like how she apparently pretends to be a lawyer sometimes."
The comment that she and Atlas were the second and third people this girl had seen in the rain seemed curious, yet at this point Tamika had given up on this girl. "She's obviously just a curious little girl with an overactive imagination and probably has no actual information whatsoever."
Tamika turned back to the dog, finding it more interesting when Atlas asked the girl about the ghost. "Okay, after the last few days I am willing to believe a lot. But the idea that this girl has any reliable information is just ridiculous."
As the girl admitted to not seeing the ghost she claimed to have spied on, Tamika rolled her eyes and scratched the dogs ears. The rest of the girl's answer confirmed to Tamika that the girl knew nothing. "Just as I thought. She's making all this up." Though, despite her belief in the girl's lack of information, Tamika had to admit that the girl looked serious and decided to humor the girl.
"That sounds quite serious. Though, out of curiosity, how do you know Batdog is a key witness?"

The young girl rolled her eyes at the woman, "Because Super-Cop said he was! Duh! He found the bone after all!" She gave an exasperated sigh, as if she should already know this. Stupid Red was obviously being another dumb grown-up. At least the other guy was cool.
She turned to the man instead, "I bet you should ask her actually, if you're a ghost-buster as well! Even if the police are here, it's always good to have more people on the case."

Atlas didn't have any idea who this "Super-Cop" was that Paige was talking about, though he could plainly see that the youth here greatly respected the law enforcement, or at least Paige did. "It's good to know you're on the case as well. That ghost won't know what hit it once we nab him." Atlas replied in an energized tone.
In all honesty, Atlas wasn't entirely sure that this girl had information, though he wouldn't count out anyone as a source of information no matter what. He listen to Tamika ask Paige about Batdog being a key witness and didn't know what exactly to ask Tamika. Come to think of it, why were they standing in the rain.
"Umm, I don't know about you guys, but I'm not exactly enjoying this rain. Wanna come inside to get dry?" he asked the girls.

"I like the rain!" Paige poked her tongue out at the older man, "Typical grown-up! But I don't 'spose it's good to keep Batdog out for too long, or he'll get all gross gook in his ears. That happened to our old cat once. It was yucky. Oh and..." The young girl skipped back to the bush she was in before, roughly tugging a plastic umbrella from between the tangle of branches, "I forget about this. Dad'll get made if I lose it!"
Taking the dog by the lead with her free hand, she tugged it back towards the two adults, "Batdog gets to come in too, right?"

While the exasperated tone of the girl's response annoyed Tamika, she found herself greatly interested in one part of the girl's answer. "A bone?! Why hadn't the girl mentioned that before? And, could the bone Batdog found be related to the bone Atlas found? If it is...then maybe this girl does have something of value after all."
While pondering this, Tamika vaguely heard Atlas ask them if they wanted to go inside. It did seem like a good idea to Tamika to get out of the rain, since shadows and giant dogs seemed to sometimes like to attack people in the rain, though she was a bit surprised that Atlas would invite a girl who had been hiding in his bushes and her wet dog into his house. "Well, I guess Atlas is sort of the overly friendly type. He is the guy who offered me forgave me for pissing off the richest and most powerful guy in the town."
"Sure, dry sounds nice." Tamika then turned and headed toward the house, ignoring the girl's question about whether the dog could come in or not.

"Sure, but he needs to be dried off. Otherwise, he'll get the house dirty." Atlas replied to Paige.
Atlas led the two girls and the dog inside of his house, while brushing the water out of his hair. "I'll go grab a towel." he said as we went ahead of him. Along the way, he made sure to move the gun up to his room from the living room. No need for the young girl to get any ideas. However, the trading card game box remained.
He returned with a white bath towel and gave it to Paige to dry off the dog. "Once you're done, feel free to make yourself at home in the living room." he said. "Does anyone want anything to drink?"

"Lemonade!" Paige answered loudly, apparently not appreciating the usual code of conduct for guests in another's house, and began energetically and roughly scrubbing at the dog's wet fur with the towel. Batdog, meanwhile, appeared to have lost much of its earlier energy, and was now whining in protest, groggily attempting to dodge the girl's hands as she tried to pin him down.
"You will become dry! Mwahaha!" She gave a mock-villain cackle as she ran the towel over its head, before finally releasing a now considerably-poofier dog to bolt a distance away from the girl, shaking itself furiously. The dog fell sideways onto the floor, rubbing itself against it in an effort to dry off what wet fur Paige had missed.
Paige pushed herself upright and immediately began scanning the house, appearing impressed with what she saw. As she scanned, she spotted the box of trading cards, before reaching over and grabbing them enthusiastically, and prying the lid open, "Ooooh I know these ones!" The young girl began rifling through the cards roughly and scattering some across the floor.

Tamika internally groaned at Paige's response though she tried to not let too much of her annoyance show on her face. "I suppose I shouldn't have expected much from a girl who hides in bushes in the rain with her dog."
Tamika mumbled "Nothing for me, thanks,", slipped off her boots and headed into Atlas's living room. She noticed with some relief that the gun that had been on the table last night was no longer there. "At least I don't have to worry about the girl shooting herself and making a big mess." While curling up on one side of the couch, Tamika listened to the girl struggle with the dog and smiled slightly, amused more by the dog's reluctance to get dry than the girl's determination to dry him.
After a little while, Tamika heard the dog run off somewhere and the girl came into the living room. She then watched as the girl eagerly grabbed the trading cards on the table and began scattering them.
"Hey, be careful with those, okay?" Tamika told the girl, still trying to keep a calm composure though some of her irritation leaked onto her face. "Atlas, I really hope you knew what you were doing when you let this girl in here."

Atlas used the time getting Paige's lemonade to collect his thoughts. "Let's see if I've got this right, Paige and her dog claim to know about ghost, yet she didn't even see it. However, a ton of people at her school talked about it. I'll bet there are at least some stories they said about it, even if many of them are just playground rumors." he thought as he shuffled through the refrigerator, pulling out a carton of lemonade.
He returned into the living room just in time to see Paige messing around with his children's trading cards. "So, I take it you are interested in this Yu-Gi-Oh game as well." he said to her and placed the glass down next to her. "I think it would be best that she don't know where I got those..." he thought.
"So, about this ghost you were talking about before. What have the other kids been saying about it?"

Grabbing the glass without a word, Paige took a drink while still flipping through a selection of cards she had pulled from the box, "I don't have any of these ones myself, but lotsa boys play 'em at lunch, so I know how to play too! Do you have the one with the red eyes? The big dragon-y one? I saw him in the show and he looked awesome! Or what about that big one in all the parts! Do you have any of the parts? That would be so cool! Jake would be so jealous! He used to always beat me, but he won't be laughing if I had that one, and..."
She continued to rant aimlessly as new cards caught her attention, before the man brought her back to the subject of the ghost. Paige took another drink, trying to recall exactly how she had told Emily about it. "Well... At school we were all talking about the girl that got murdered! Before we'd heard a story from that guy at the Milkbarn about a ghost that ate kids that stayed out at night, and we know that teenagers are stupid and do that all the time. And some of the kids in my class have older brothers and sisters who are teens so some of them knew the girl, and they were always saying stuff about what they did at night. So we decided that the ghost must've gotten her when she stayed out late!"
Paige paused for breath and gestured to Batdog, who was still rolling on the floor, making occasional agitated grunts, "So I was investigantin' the rumour with Super-Cop the other night and we found Batdog with a bone! So the ghost might've gotten another person! Super-Cop called Sleepy, and they took the bone away to check, so I dunno what's happened with it yet. But I got put in charge of looking after Batdog since I'm a Deputy now and Batdog's a witness!" Nodding her head, she added, "And that's why we need people with extra ghost-busting skills, since the Police are probably super busy."

Tamika listened to the girl, though she wasn't surprised by the girl's answers about the ghost. "I think I remember seeing the guy she's talking about. Though, from the looks of him and from her story, it's pretty obvious she just heard a ghost story that was meant to keep kids from going out at night. Those stories are a dumb idea. They never work."
Once again, Tamika was way more interested in the bone than any of the girl's ghost stories. "So she and 'Super-cop' found the dog with the bone. And the bone must have looked real and human enough for the police to take interest in it. That is, unless they were just humoring her, though whoever this 'Super-cop' is probably wouldn't have called for another cop if it wasn't anything important."
"We found a dog and a bone too," Tamika said while looking at the girl. She then gestured at Atlas and added, "Well, more accurately Atlas found the dog and the bone. Though the dog he found was much larger and much less friendly than Batdog." Tamika adjusted her position on the couch so that she was sitting up and then told the girl, "If the bone that you found and the bone we found belong to the same person, than you don't have to worry about another victim. The person our bone belongs to died about fifty years ago in a massacre in Greenvale."
She then leaned back and asked, "Could you tell me Super-cop's name or what he or she looks like so we can explain to him or her where the bone came from. We don't want the police worrying about a murder victim that doesn't exist."

"Really?" Paige frowned. A 50-year old murder (if that's what the lady was saying it was) was still pretty exciting, but definitely not as much as a recent one, and doubly not if the police already knew who did it. The girl poked her lower lip out, huffing, "Then that means Batdog was just digging up old bones! And that's probably a crime! That's not what a good Deputy does, Batdog! Bad doggy!"
The dog, however, didn't seem to care, now content with curling up next to two adults and yawning. "But that doesn't mean there isn't a ghost that got the girl!" Paige added hopefully.
She perked up when the woman mentioned her Police contact, "Ah, Super-Cop is Emily! Emily, ummm..." She paused thoughtfully. She never really bothered to remember peoples' first names, let alone their last ones. What did her dad always call her when they talked? Miss... "Wyatt! Yeah, that's it! She's my two-doors-down neighbour! She's the best cop!"

"I don't think I have those ones, but if I see them I'll let you know. That way, you can beat Jake!" Atlas said to her as he took a seat next to Tamika.
Atlas listened to the kid's account of what the other kids were saying. There was no new information really, though it felt more like there were several ghosts out at night that ate kids. Could some of them been able to see the shadows as well? His eyes glanced over at the dog rolling over on the carpet as she and Tamika brought up the bone.
His attention focused back when Tamika mentioned Atlas's encounter with the dog "Understatement of the century." he thought, still shuddering over the encounter with the giant dog. At least this dog was nice. He curled up between Atlas and Tamika, causing him to scratch him behind the ear. "Well you can't really blame him. He's just doing what dogs do. It isn't a crime to go digging. At least if it is not a crime scene." He relied, enjoying stroking the dog.
"So, Super-Cop is Emily huh. I guess I can see why. She is pretty easy to get along with. This town is lucky to have someone like her watching out for it."

Tamika did agree with Atlas. Emily did seem like a nice and easy enough to get along with. "At least for a cop."
Though she was enjoying spending time with Atlas, a dog (even though it was wet and therefore smelled bad), and was beginning to believe this girl may be more useful than she first thought, though just barely, Tamika did feel that it was about time for her to leave. Getting up from the couch, she said as she slipped her boots on, "Well, I'll go see if I can find 'Super-Cop' and tell her about the bone. You two have fun playing card games or something." As she was about to leave, she turned and added while looking down slightly, "Oh, and Atlas, I'll stop by later tonight again. If it's alright with you."
