Wes was a little thrown by Kevin's sudden seriousness. There was both relief and annoyance when it disappeared again. Either way, Wes was glad that he seemed to have had some sort of effect, or at least made him think about it.
"What is that, anyway? A strip club?" he asked, rolling his eyes.

“Unfortunately, it’s just a bar. But, a pretty nice one. I think you’ll like it there, it’s kinda classy too. So,will you come? Pleeeease?” Kevin looked at him pleadingly. “There’s a pretty singer girl who owns the place too.”

"How disappointing," Wes muttered sarcastically, before Kevin had finished speaking. The clarification almost had him considering the offer. He looked off the the side, at the floor.
The kneejerk reaction was still "no," of course. Kevin annoyed him, and their minuscule amount of history offered little reason for Wes to trust him. But... he was here, begging him to go. Maybe it was a bad idea for Wes to go, since it wasn't as if he cared for Kevin much. But... he didn't really care for anyone much. In fact, he just didn't care for people as a whole. But he didn't come into town because he wanted to like people. He came because, in a way, he wanted people to like him. Or at least to have a reason to think twice about throwing him under the bus.
And, weirdly, that was happening. Todd had been quite enthused about him the day before. The papergirl didn't seem to hate him. He got on pretty well with Charlotte at the library earlier, despite a broken agreement being involved. And now a familiar face had popped up, again enthusiastic about seeing him. Maybe he didn't trust any of these people. But things, somehow, were actually working out.
So, the question was whether he should quit while he was ahead or try to go further. If he refused, he got to avoid the undoubtedly uncomfortable social outing. But he might upset the rather dramatic Kevin, and lose that decent standing already. If you don't try hard enough to stop them, people will leave.
Kevin would be happy if Wes went, though. And he couldn't help but have his mind linger on, 'he was my brother's friend, maybe making him happy would make my bother happy.' He'd already left. It was too late to stop him. But Wes couldn't help wanting to try.
"If you promise not to try and set me up with anyone... what time?"
