"Oh George is one of the most moral and upstanding people I know! I feel safer just knowing he has his watchful eyes over Greenvale and I can't think of a better man for Sheriff! I'll definitely have to introduce you two sometime! Mentally Emily added, When he is in a better mood, this really hasn't been his week.
"So have you been able to explore Greenvale much since you've moved here? We may not be a cultural destination like Italy but we do has some class. Did you know we have our very own art gallery? I keep meaning to go, but haven't made it over there! I've been curious what's inside would you like to go sometime?"

George sounded like a lovely man, and with as much time as Emily would need to spend with him Ash trusted her judgement. "I'd be quite happy to be introduced sometime." she said sincerely. What a lovely place to live Greenvale was turning out to be.
Shaking her head Ash told her mournfully "I haven't gotten to explore much yet. I've been so busy getting the shop set up. . . I'll have to find time to soon though. I quite enjoy exploring." She just wouldn't be doing so when it was dark, she promised herself silently. Ashlin had never really had a fear of the dark before, but the nightmare truly had frightened her. She'd be avoiding the streets of Greenvale after dark for the foreseeable future, or at least she would as long as she was alone.
Perking up slightly at Emily's invitation. "I'd love to check it out with you sometime." She was being asked to hang out! Emily was so nice, and she genuinely seemed to like her, which Ash could hardly believe. Yes she really did like it here in Greenvale.

Emily smiled, "It's a date then! Let me know when you are are free to go."
Emily was really enjoying herself, it's been quite a long time since she's just hung out was another girl. She hoped she wouldn't come off as too eager..."So Ashlin what are your plans later tonight?"

"I didn't really have any plans." Ashlin admitted. She'd mostly planned to finish up the lotion for Michael, and see if she could finish her other little project. Then again she didn't think she'd be sleeping too much tonight so she'd have plenty of time. Tilting her head to the side slightly she asked "Though I was wondering what's the Galaxy of Terror? I heard the name but wasn't sure what it could be." It was an interesting name. Was it some kind of space themed haunted house? That would be interesting. There could be aliens instead of ghosts, but they'd have to be scary aliens not the nice ones that come in peace.
Ash found she quite liked spending time with Emily. It was nice to have a female friend she could just talk to like this. It wasn't quite the same as hanging out with Michael, but it wasn't a bad different. She wasn't even quite sure why it was different. But it was and that was alright because both were nice.

Emily laughed, "The Galaxy of Terror is actually a lounge! It's a weird name, I know, my co worker's little sister actually owns the place and sings there nightly. She has a beautiful voice!"
"You know what we should go tonight! The atmosphere is completely different than SWERY65. Definitely calmer! Would you like to go an have dinner and drinks? I can introduce you!"

"Alright!" Ash agreed excitedly. So far everyone she'd met because of Emily seemed nice enough. Well alright she still wasn't so sure about Agent York, she could never tell if the man was making fun of her or not which was rather disconcerting. Ash was used to being relatively certain people were making fun of her. Some how not being sure was rather distressing. And for some reason she found she didn't like Kevin all that much. She told herself it was just because he'd been making Michael feel uncomfortable, but how would he have known. Hadn't she done something similar when they'd first met though? Still for whatever reason she didn't find she liked Kevin all that much.
But well most of the people she'd been introduced to had been nice.

"Great! Tonight will be a lot of fun!" Emily giggled, she was very very excited! "Now Galaxy of Terror is a bit fancier than Swery 65, what do you say? We make a girl's night and dress up a bit? I can't remember the last time I dressed up! It will be a lot of fun!"
It will be so nice to take her mind off the murder investigation. With any luck she will be able to have a decent night sleep tonight!

Emily's excitement was infectious, and Ash found herself agreeing happily. It was even more exciting since Ash had never been on a girl's night before. She thought she had something in her closet that would probably work for dressing up, though she wouldn't bother with makeup. Ash had never really used the stuff, though she owned some (a gift from her mother, she never was the daughter she wanted was she?)
"Do you want to drive there or should I?" she asked curiously.

"I'll drive! It will prevent me from drinking too much and I live farther." Emily grinned, "So what do you say I pick you up around 7?"
This was going to be so much fun! She couldn't wait for this work day to be over.
"By the way Ashlin you sure missed an interesting ride home with the guys last night! I found out my co worker Todd watches the same soap I do which is hilarious and Kevin tried to seduce Agent York..." That last bit was supposed to be funny as well, but Emily found she couldn't smile about it for some reason. "Also-" Emily hesitated a bit unsure if she should pry...
Oh why not? They were friends now right? Girlfriends talked about their love lives all the time, at least they did on TV and in the movies.
Then in a rush Emily plunged in with her question, "I'm dying to know! HowlonghaveyouandMichaelbeenintoeachother?"

Blinking at Emily's description of last night, Ash was rather surprised. Ash noticed she didn't seem too pleased when she mentioned Kevin trying to seduce Agent York though. Ash wondered why. She and Kevin had seemed close, and Emily liked Agent York so why would she object to the pair. It was rather odd (but so was the strange sense of relief Ash felt when she heard Kevin was going after Agent York that she wasn't quite thinking about.)
It took Ash a moment to decipher exactly what Emily was asking her. When she did figure it out though she flushed bright red, and her stomach did a funny little thing that Ash thought was likely more suited to Olympics gymnastics. "Ah- I- what?" she said fumbling for words. "We're, Michael and I are just friends." she added after a moment of imitating a tomato, pushing her hair behind her ear as she said it. Why did everyone seem to think that she and Michael were something . . . more? It wasn't a bad thought, the idea of being with Michael, but she didn't feel that way about him . . . did she? She didn't find Michael unattractive, but that didn't mean that she, that she wanted to, to be with him. Ash had never really felt that way about anyone before she didn't think, and didn't quite know how that was suppose to feel.

"Only...friends, hmmm. But Todd-" Emily bit her lip. Maybe Todd was full of crap, he was pretty sloshed he could have been exaggerating.
"Well you see Todd said something about Michael feeling you up and failing, which is why you left the bar rather...suddenly?"

"Feeling me . . . ?" Ash asked wide eyed, flushing even deeper. Ash looked down it her lap and she unconsciously played with her hair. His hand had only moved, moved down there, when she'd jumped, so it wasn't really Michael's fault. "It wasn't, h-he was just trying to comfort me! Because he knew I was afraid of doctors. . . His hand just slipped!" she explained with a funny note to her voice, trying to defend Michael. Ashlin had never been exactly good at hiding her feelings, even ones she didn't know she had, and it showed on her face. Peeking through was how much she was starting to care about him, even if she didn't know it yet. "And I only left because everyone else was. I like being around Michael." She peeked up at Emily, still blushing and playing with her hair.

"Oooooh okay!" Emily smiled, "So it was just a misunderstanding, I figured Todd was exaggerating he does that a lot!"
Still Emily couldn't help but notice Ashlin's expressions it was clear she felt more for Michael! Ah! She felt like Emma Woodhouse from Jane Austen's Emma. Michael and Ashlin were perfect for each other and she was going to do everything in her power to get those two together!
"Michael is very handsome and quite a catch Ashlin! You two would be so cute together." Emily leaned over a bit and playfully poked Ashlin in the ribs, "...and! I got the feeling he liiiiiked you last night."

Yes, yes it was all just a misunderstanding she agreed, nodding with smile. Her blush was just starting to go down when Emily slyly commented about Michael, and how they'd make a cute couple. That had her blush coming back full force. Well yes, she'd noticed that Michael was attractive, she wouldn't deny that but that didn't mean that she- or that they should- or would or- or-
Did she? Ash knew she liked being around Michael, that she felt comfortable around him, like she could tell him things she'd never told anyone else . . . like she was safe. But that was all because he was her friend wasn't it? Or was that what liking someone felt like, this wanting to be around them, and having them on your mind in lots of little ways even when they weren't around. Could she have more than friends feelings for him?
Squeaking just a bit when she was poked in the ribs her tone wasn't much different as she asked tentatively "You think he . . . likes me?" Even if she might, maybe, sorta like Michael like that why would he possibly like her? Sure they had some things in common, and he was trusting her, but they were friends and friends helped each other, and that was all. There was no way Michael could have feelings like that for her.

"Why do you sound so surprised by my observation Ashlin?!"
Emily smiled and held up a finger,"Let's look at the facts shall we? One, you are pretty adorable and two, you were able to somehow convince a man I assumed to be antisocial to join a group of hooligans for a drink! Not only that, the man got up to sing! Sing! I thought for sure he was going to decline but once you asked he jumped right up there. That has to mean something right? Right??"
She laughed, "Come on Ash! He wouldn't of done any of that on my account...certainly not Todd's. It had to be due to you. He wanted to impress you and went along with all our shenanigans for you. It's clear he likes you, you silly girl!"
"Now for the million dollar question...might you feel the same about him?"
