When George roared Emily felt pinpricks of tears forming in the back of her eyes but she stood her ground. God today just wasn't her day was it? Actually make that this whole week, she was tired, stressed, black and blue and was now being threatened off the investigation by a livid boss.
George could be a such a bastard!
Emily wanted to yell. She wanted to scream back in George's face to go ahead and take her off the case! Maybe then she would get to sleep. No wait, why stop there...if she was so terrible why doesn't he just fire her! Yeah! Maybe she just wasn't cut out to be a cop, maybe being a bank teller something more up her alley...
These thoughts whirled in her head in a matter of moments. But no, despite all of this in the end Emily couldn't see herself doing anything else. A Greenvale Sheriff Deputy was what she wanted to do and it was who she was. She didn't want off the case, not now, not ever and damned if she would ever just hand this responsibility over to someone like Todd!
Silence fell in the office and Emily stood there and shook in anger. She bit the inside of her cheek as angry tears streamed down her face. She made no move to stop them and said, "Understood sir."
Then with her head high she turned her back on George calmly stepped out his office.
Luckily for her the outer office was deserted and Todd was no where to be seen. Maybe he wasn't listening in after all? Emily sent up a silent prayer of thanks for this small fortune. She swiped at her face but the tears kept coming. She made a beeline for the ladies and hoped no one would see her on the way.

Seven had walked in while Todd was checking his blog. They bull shited for a couple moments but their chit-chat was cut off by George's sudden roar from within his office.
What the hell?
Both men looked towards the closed office door. Then with wide eyes Steven turned towards Todd asked him in a low voice who was the unlucky person in there. Todd frowned, he didn't want to tell him it was Em', she didn't need the whispers around the office. Unfortunately the recipient of George's anger became obvious when Emily's equally loud retort about "stonewalling" came from within the office.
Just what were they arguing about? They both seemed fine a moment ago. Todd didn't think he ever heard George this angry. Sure he's seen him yell at criminals and even Steven, John and himself and it scared the crap out of all of them! But Emily? Never. Emily never earned his anger. What the hell did she do?
Steven made a move to get closer by the door to but Todd's hand shot out and stopped him from moving forward. He shot a him a grim expression and shook his head. Whatever was going on it was something major and as the argument behind the closed door intensified and Todd knew if either of them were caught out here listening heads would surely roll.
Todd stood and whispered, "Come on Steven I need a cup of coffee....and so do you. Let's get the fuck out of here."
Steven nodded and assent and both made an exit to the safety of the department kitchen just moments before Emily stepped out of the George's office.
