Emily stood and walked over to where York was kneeing behind a row of chairs. "Er you need some help?"
She could see his lighter lying just a few feet away but in his current condition it might have well been several. He couldn't reach it unless he got on the floor and further aggravate his injured arm.
Emily squatted beside him and placed a hand on his shoulder and shook her head as he made an attempt to grab it. "I see it York. I'll get it, there's no reason for you to hurt yourself further." She motioned him to stand back a bit and then laid flat on her belly and reach out with the tips of her fingers. She felt her left hand brush the bottom of his lighter twice before she could wiggle herself close enough to wrap her fingers around it.
Success!
With a grin sat back up and examined York's lighter. She never had a good view of it before...it was strange. Black with a 'no smoking' symbol. Definitely a contradiction...just like the man himself!
She smiled and stood and dusted herself off.
"You certainly are a Mr. Butterfingers! I would offer to light your cigarette for you but we are in a hospital." She smirked, "I hand this back when we are outside."

George always hated this part of the job: doing paperwork. It certainly wasn't the most interesting part, but he had lost count of how many times he had to fill out forms like this, so he could practically fill them out in his sleep.
While writing, he reflected on how the autopsy went. "Alright, so Morgan discovered the Red Seeds and was able to find a way to take charge of the investigation. Wasn't expecting this outcome, but he doesn't seem to think I'm responsible. I can still lead him in whatever direction I need to. We shall see how this game plays out...
When George finally finished the form, he gave it to Dr. Coquebloque and left abruptly without saying goodbye. He then retraced his step and made it back to the lobby in time to see Morgan with a cigarette in his mouth.
"You know, Agent Morgan, if you're so desperate, why don't you smoke two at once." George said with a hint of sarcasm.
"Emily, Agent Morgan, we should get going."

York sat back and watched Emily wriggle around on her stomach with a faint grin. He put two fingers to his temple and said, almost wistfully, "Zach, she's quite an attractive woman. I would also go as far to say that she might be the second most useful person we've come across so far in Greenvale... Too bad Emily doesn't appear to be familiar with the Shadows, or else we might really be able to use her help. On the other hand, she seems a little more stable than the redheaded warrior princess with the switchblade, so I guess it's a trade-off."
<You know, we wouldn't have to go through these charades if you would stop saying my name out loud. You're so careless,> the voice said, a little moodily. Close calls, especially with women, always made Zach nervous. York pretended to consider this as Emily carefully backed up, grinning in triumph and lighter in hand, blond hair falling messily over her right eye.
"Oh, I think it was worth it."
He reached for the lighter and seemed taken aback when she stood up and held it out of his reach. His cigarette was still in his mouth as he got slowly to his feet, still staring wide-eyed at her, not seeming to notice George had come in until he spoke.
"George, two unlit cigarettes means I'm doubly desperate for fire, not death," York finally said, shrugging lop-sidedly when he realized Emily really wasn't joking. As they headed towards the door and the night outside, he added good-naturedly, "Someday I'll have to tell you guys the story of how I came by that lighter. It means a lot to me, but it's not really something I should talk about in this sort of environment. Rather, the perfect setting would be if we were all sitting around a table under a crystal chandelier with a half-eaten roasted pig in front of us, just to set the mood... If we're ever in that situation, I'll definitely have a tale to tell."

Emily laughed a bit at York's surprised face when she wouldn't hand over the light. I meant what I said! She was disappointed that he got out of answering who the mysterious Zach was...she'll have to stay on her toes if she's going to catch him mentioning that name again. The curiosity was killing her!
Emily smiled at the sheriff and said, "Okay George! Let's get going Agent York!"
Once outside and George had gone to his vehicle Emily handed the lighter back to the Agent. With a wink she added, "Too bad the conditions weren't right! I'm really curious as to how and where you found such a unique zippo! When I have the money to buy and install a crystal chandelier as well as order a roasted pig, I'll be sure to ask again that story must be quite a doozy!"
