Time: Evening Weather: Cloudy Warnings: Drunken flirting by Todd? Characters: [OPEN]
Emily sighed, today was a very long day and she was having dinner at SWERY 65 hoping to unwind a bit. An odd choice considering how loud and rowdy it was but Emily enjoyed the happy atmosphere, it was infectious and helped lift her mood.
She had changed out of her deputy uniform and attempted to try and cover her bruises again but still didn't have any luck like her first attempt this morning. At least with her sweater and jeans combo only her bruised lip and chin were visible.
She was surprised when she got that email from Kevin this afternoon. It had certainly been awhile since she saw him and it will be great to catch up. Definitely would take her mind off less unpleasant things, such as the Anna murder investigation.
She took another sip of her Henigan and another bite of her BLT. Someday, someday Emily mused she would be able to make a decent sandwich of her own. Until that day however SWERY65 will continue to have her daily patronage!

Todd entered SWERY 65 a little after 6pm. He had made a quick pitstop at home to change out of his uniform and was sporting a UC Stanford sweatshirt, a gift from his sister who was currently going there, and an old pair of jeans.
He scanned the bar in hopes that Kevin had already scored a table in this packed bar. Unfortunately it would appear he was the first to arrive. Todd smirked, Kevin was such a diva sometimes he always wants to make a fashionably late entrance.
He was resigned to stand over by the bar in hopes of grabbing a table when someone left when he spotted Emily at one of the side tables eating dinner. Alone.
Perfect! She can totally share table space!
He walked over to the table and snatched a potato chip from her plate which earned him an evil glare from the blonde. Todd sat down and grabbed another chip, "Hey Em! How's in going? I'm meeting a friend here...do you mind if I sit with you until I can score a table?"

Emily sighed and slapped Todd's hand away when he reached for another one of her chips, "Stop mooching my chips TODD!"
He pouted and sat back in the stool with him arms crossed. Emily glanced at her watch, she hoped Kevin showed up soon she was falling asleep here and spending an evening with Todd wasn't very appealing. She wished Atlas, Tamika and Charlotte were here instead.
"You can sit here until my friend arrives, I expect him any moment."

Todd smiled, "Ooo is this the same mysterious friend you hung out with the other night?" Emily only rolled her eyes so he continued, "Steven told me he saw you being pretty chummy with a lawyer fellow, he said he helped his sister with her settlement the other month..."
When Emily refused to take the bait he pressed, "Now with this murder investigation finally getting started we can't have you late again, maybe I should play chaperon!" He grinned and nudged her over the table.

Emily rubbed her forehead in a vain attempt to will the headache forming there to go away. After the day she's had she definitely wasn't in the mood to play 20 questions with Todd. Seriously once he got going the man would not stop unless bodily harm was implied.
"No, I'm not meeting Atticus, that's the lawyer's name by the way. I'm actually meeting an old friend who has just returned to town. I haven't seen him in a long time and we've been out of contact."
She stared at her remaining potato chips and decided she wasn't very hungry anymore so she pushed them it over to Todd who happily dug in.
Emily smiled "So Todd did you have an exciting day after playing department janitor?"

With a mouthful of chips Todd could only nod vigorously to Emily's question. He caught the attention of one of the bartenders roaming the floor and ordered a beer before giving an answer.
"Actually my day was fabulous. Thanks for asking! Let's see I got to finish someone's paperwork, in record time I might add, then I got to save the day for the HR department by fixing a paper jam in the copier for Linda."
The bartender had returned with Todd's beer so he took a quick swig before continuing his tale, "Then let's see Steven and I raced desk chairs down the front hallway..."

Emily cut him off, "Sounds like it was full of non stop excitement there Todd. I'm glad you were able advert the crisis of the jammed photo copier but if George found out you guys were fooling around in the hallways he will have your heads! You know he loathes those sort of shenanigans in the office."
Todd only grinned and shrugged and said something a long the lines of how was the big boss going to know unless she told him. To that Emily rolled her eyes, she wasn't going to tattle but she also wasn't going to remind him that Joey was in charge of surveillance this week and would probably bring their antics to George's attention.
Oh man she hope she was around when that happened...

Ashlin wandered into the crowded bar. She wondered if they carried any good whiskey. Ash had to admit she'd been a bit spoiled, almost all her experience drinking had been while she was traveling, and American beer had just never tasted right to her. Of course it probably didn't help that she'd occasionally earned extra pocket money winning bets in drinking contests. Everyone always underestimated the 5'2" American girl in the silly hats, and she made a killing with the odds.
Ash was so distracted wondering if they'd have anything that didn't taste like watered down piss that she had no time to avoid the rather rowdy man jumping up and down to yell about the actions of some sports team (whether he was pleased or angry she couldn't tell.) As she was sent crashing into someone sitting at a table she had to wonder is perhaps she'd broken a mirror without realizing it, she was usually never as clumsy as she had been today.

Todd was just about to ask Emily if she got his "Sorry e-card" from this morning when out of nowhere a petite blonde crashed into their table and knocked over Todd's pint of Hennigan's directly onto Emily's lap.
He heard Emily let out a cute squeak of surprise as well as her stool falling to the floor. As Todd as steadied the stranger so she didn't fall over as well also he also heard Emily her mutter something about it "just not being her day today." He looked over his shoulder at a drenched companion and said, "What can I say? Women-they just fall all over me!"
His statement only earned him a dramatic roll the eyes as Emily and handed him the stranger's cap that had fallen onto their table during her spill.
Once the girl steady on her feet, he placed the cap back on her head with a pat and flashed her one of his dazzling smiles he knew the ladies loved.
"You okay there sugar? You took quite a fall there!" He paused when he noticed the girl's gaze was fixated on Emily as she attempted to mop up her sodden jeans and sweater with a pile of paper napkins. Todd winked, nodded in Emily's direction and tried to reassure the girl, "Now don't mind sourpuss over there... she may look pretty scary but I promise she doesn't bite."

When Emily heard Todd's last comment she shot him a glare, "Ugh! Todd, really? Really? Is that really necessary?"
She sighed, stopped her mopping her outfit and gave the stranger a reassuring smile of her own.
"Don't mind him, are you okay? If anyone should be considered "scary" it would be him. I can't believe how crowded it is in here." She wiped her hands on the back of her jeans walked around the table put out her hand, "I'm Emily by the way." she jerked her head in Todd's direction, "Casanova over there is Todd."

Well she didn't end up on floor, that was good. If nothing else she seemed to have some luck there; for all her acts of clumsiness today she'd only ended up on the floor once. When the blond man with the black eye started talking to her Ashlin was, to say the least confused. She blinked owlishly at him for a few moments. "I'm . . . fine." she said slowly after a moment before turning to the woman.
She, Emily she'd said, made much more sense to Ash. "I'm Ashlin. I'm sorry about your pants." she told her regretfully. She wanted to take Emily's advice and ignore Todd, because he said strange things, and made Ash feel slightly uncomfortable (why would he call her sugar, she wasn't a confectionery product) but she felt it would be rude not to replace his drink (even if it was water down piss.) "And your beer. I can get you both drinks if you'd like, to apologize." They both seemed nice (even if Todd was confusing) and she really didn't want to ruin the lovely streak she was on (she already had one friend, and perhaps even a second!)

Todd held up his hands and shook his head, "No no no, I can't let a pretty girl like yourself you buy me a drink! That's not how this is supposed to go you know!"
He laughed and gently guided Ash by her the shoulders to a seat at their table, "Now you just sit right here I'll go get you something!" He noticed Emily's raised eyebrow and amended, "Oh... and I guess I can get something for you as well Em. What would you guys like?"

"But I knocked over your drink." she said in confusion. What did he mean it wasn't how things were suppose to go? Didn't one usually replace what they'd broken? Really he was so very confusing, but she supposed it would be rude to refuse when he was insisting on buying her a drink. She hesitated slightly before telling him "A shot of whiskey please, but I can pay for my own drink you know." She was pouting slightly at the end, without meaning too. But she felt uncomfortable being bought things by someone she just met. It was discombobulating.

Atlas walked into the bar, looking tired. He wore an odd combination of a sweatshirt and slacks, with a t-shirt underneath.
The images from the nightmare were still in his head. When he awoke, he was convinced it was only a bad dream, but two things convinced him otherwise: a cigarette burn on his keyboard and the e-mail still in his inbox. Who was that cigarette smoking man anyways? That question circled his head, but for now, he needed to keep his health and sanity in check. He needed a hot meal and a beer.
He sat at one of the bar stools and flagged the bartender. He ordered an amber ale, prompting the bartender to ask for ID. He rolled his eyes and then pulled out his wallet. "Ohh, cmon, I'm not THAT young, am I?" he thought to himself.
At least it was a sign he wasn't getting too old...

When Todd left the table for the bar Emily bent down and picked her bar stool from the floor. She sat back down and gave Ash another smile, "Believe me he knows you can pay for your own drink, but he still won't let you. It's his thing." Emily made some air quotations to emphasize this last point. "Lots of girls love it," She laughed and gave the girl a pat on the back, "Tell you the truth it's refreshing to see it doesn't work on every pretty new girl he meets."
The poor girl still seemed confused so Emily decided to move away from Todd's antics. Ash was a new face around here and Emily wondered if she was a new resident or just here visiting. There weren't that many blondes in Greenvale...at least ones which such a cool fashion sense...that hat of hers was just adorable!
Emily gave a curious glance at Ash's band-aid and leaned closer for a better look, "Hey what sort of animal is that on your band-aid? It looks like a monkey-wait no is it.... a squirrel?"
