"Well..." Bianca seemed a bit distant as she mulled over whether the subject of Anna Graham's death would be appropriate or not.
"Home is supposed to be a safe place right? It's not anymore it seems."
She couldn't help, but notice how Wes was also looking in the same general direction as her. It suddenly dawned on her that he was more suspicious of her than she was of him. But why? Only people who had done something would act like that. Perhaps she could just bring it to light...
"Um. Are you thinking I'm trying to do something bad?" Bianca asked cautiously.

"Home is a safe place? That's nice," Wes commented, his tone very patronizing. "Home is your territory. It's not so much about safety as knowing where the gun's hidden." Some comforting words from a friendly stranger. His words were harsh, but didn't betray his feelings. Home never felt that safe to him. His hometown was full of crime, his father had a lot of enemies and got pretty angry. Familiarity didn't make him feel secure. A person did. And he left.
Now even more sour-looking, Wes wasn't helped by her questioning. What did she have in mind? Was she trying to get some information out of him?
"Huh?" he asked, half-feigning a quizzical look. "What are you talking about?"

"That's an odd thing to say," Bianca said lightly. She never heard anyone in town declare such a thing like what Wes just said.
"You're acting very fidgety that's all. I know we barely met and all, but I'm not that threatening," she answered with a slight frown.
Bianca had gone to college outside of town, in the big city. She experienced many new things outside of home and she noticed that city people tended to not trust others very much. It was all well-intentioned of course. In a city there was hundreds and thousands of people you wouldn't be familiar with. And admittedly, she did understand some of the reasoning behind Wes's words.
Still, most of this felt almost uncalled for.
Perhaps it was about time I left, she thought to herself. She turned around and started down the stairs of the clock tower with a sigh.

Wes almost argued with her - 'odd, how?' - but decided it might be best to leave it be. He didn't particularly want to continue on with the subject. He looked away from her instead.
Of course, the other subject he wanted to continue with even less. He wasn't particularly happy with her answer, even though he really couldn't have hoped for anything else. He was pretty dismissive of it; quickly and without looking at her, he said, "Sorry. Bad day." At least it was sort of polite.
It all was uncalled for, of course; but Bianca was the one who started the conversation, wasn't she? She had assumed him to be more civil. Perhaps she should be a little less trusting.
It wasn't until she had turned to leave that he looked at her again; he called to her, sarcastically, "Nice meeting you!" before looking out into the parking lot area again.
Still no more eyes.
