Time: Day One, Late Night
Weather: Overcast, Cold
Warnings: Shadows
Characters: Tamika Weir
Tamika pulled into the Great Deer Yard Hotel's lot. Many shadows had been wandering the roads, and she had been forced to hit a few. "I hope my insurance covers damages from shadows." She also heard several loud barks. Tamika did not see the source of these barks, but prayed that those were just very noisy normal dogs.
In the lot, more shadows awaited her. Tamika took a deep breath. "Alright, I just have to run past them and get to the doors. How hard could that be?" Pulling out her knife, Tamika gripped the door handle. "On the count of three. One...two...three!" With that, Tamika quickly opened her door and slammed it behind her. Several shadows approached her. Instead of trying to fight them directly like the one in the bar's lot, Tamika ran through them, attacking only those in her way. For the first part of her run, Tamika was doing well. Her speed and experience from fleeing from gangs allowed her to successfully dodge most of the shadows attacks. Though she received a few bruises on her back and arms from the shadows that had pipes, it looked like she might get to the doors mostly unscathed. That she heard the cock of a shotgun.
For a second, Tamika tried to register what this meant. Then the answer literally hit her as a pellet grazed her left arm. "THE SHADOWS HAVE SHOTGUNS?!? WHO THE HELL GAVE THE SHADOWS SHOTGUNS?!?" Knowing that there was no way she could combat a shotgun with her switchblade. Tamika sprinted toward the doors. Several more shadows managed to hit her with their pipes since she was more focused on getting away than trying to evade the shadows attacks. Luckily, no more shotgun shots hit her. There where a couple more after the first, but apparently shadows are terrible shots.
When Tamika finally reached the hotel doors, she threw them open and ran inside. Sadly, the sudden change in surface, combined with her momentum, injuries, and fatigue, Tamika face-planted after getting about two feet inside. She first feared that the shadows would take advantage of her clumsiness and try to finish her off. After a minute of nothing, Tamika looked up. The lobby was quite empty with not a shadow in sight. "So they can't follow me in buildings. I can live with that." Smiling slightly at the first pleasant surprise she had tonight, she got up. Her fall had fortunately not caused her much damage. The wound on her arm, on the other hand, hurt like hell. "Tonight: treat arm and get sleep. Tomorrow: get answers from someone." Covering her wound with her right hand, Tamika walked slowly to her room.
